Duke?

What do you think about the name [name]Duke[/name] for a boy?

honestly…

I picture a big, lanky dog with floppy ears…the kind that are so huge they can’t help but be the clumsiest dog around…

I’m a huge fan of [name]Duke[/name], I have always loved it…What are you thinking for a middle name and what is your last name…

[name]Duke[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]Duke[/name] [name]Ryan[/name]
[name]Duke[/name] [name]Conner[/name]

I’m biased on [name]Duke[/name] because it’s a name in my family. So it sounds like a normal name. But I don’t really know if I like it or not. If I were a guy, I think I might like a name that sounds less like a pet.

I’m not [name]Duke[/name] fan, and I’d be concerned about dookie jokes. :frowning:

One of my FAVOURITES along with [name]Finn[/name].

I love the surfing link to [name]Duke[/name].

My fav combo is [name]Duke[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]

I agree with the others that said it reminds them of a dogs name.

When my neice [name]Riley[/name] was born I actually heard someone remark “isnt that a DOGS name?”

(this was a bit before it became a little more popular)

But that’s the last thing you want your kid to go through

I also agree that I’d be concerned about Dookie jokes.

I hear it as a dog’s name too, but maybe it could work as a middle?

Well, from a man’s point of view… I suggested the name [name]Duke[/name] to my husband and he turned it flat down. “Why?”, I asked, and he replied boys would make fun of the name and the last thing you want is for your teenage son to have to battle all the gross inferences made about his name from other boys.

That’s what he told me, but from my point of view, I just thought of Dukes of [name]Hazard[/name] and loved the name.

That was their surname though. There is a big differance in that.

Surnames get made fun of too, but not nearly as much as first names.

If you really like the name, maybe use a middle name that can make a nickname?

like DJ DB DC and let HIM choose what to go by when he’s old enough.
