Duncan Donuts?

I live on the eastern coast of the U.S. where Dunkin’ Donuts are literally everywhere. I have 4 within 10 minutes of my home.

I really love [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] though. Does anyone think it will trigger teasing about Dunkin’ Donuts? For the record, if someone teases me about the name choice I don’t mind telling them where they can shove it. However, I wouldn’t necessarily want to inflict that burden on a a kid.

I don’t think of Dunkin’ Donuts, but then again we don’t really have them in [name_f]Alabama[/name_f].

I have them everywhere but I didn’t think of Dunkin Donuts!

[name_m]Deacon[/name_m] is another option that is close if you are interested.

Well, that is reassuring so far. I have bad associations with [name_m]Deacon[/name_m]. It is a sad, dark, convoluted story I will not bore you with.

I saw the name [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] on an earlier post, and didn’t think about the donuts at all. I live in florida where they are everywhere, too. I think it helps that it isn’t spelled the same.

I am from [name_f]Canada[/name_f] so definitely no association there, but even so I don’t think the association will be that strong. I don’t think of the fast food chain when I hear the names [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], [name_m]Tim[/name_m], [name_m]Carl[/name_m], etc. I don’t think you need to worry about teasing! I love the name [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] as well

Thanks guys. <3

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] is another similar option!

I was just about to suggest [name_m]Declan[/name_m] as well! [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] is one of my favorites as well and I am also from somewhere that has way too many dunkin donuts, but I didn’t even connect the two until I saw this post. So I wouldn’t worry too much.

hahaha! Yeah, Dunkin’ Donuts is everywhere, here, too, and it seems like it’s still everywhere, even when we travel out of state! I didn’t realize that it wasn’t just as big outside of my region of the country, lol. I mean, I’ve realized that “dunkin” and [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] sound identical, but I don’t think of Dunkin’ Donuts every time I say the name [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] (if anything, I think of the baking company [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] [name_m]Hines[/name_m], and their frostings and boxed cake batters!).

I think [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] is lovely, and I’d love to meet a little one with the name! If you hesitate, I think [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] or [name_m]Declan[/name_m] are similar-feeling “D” names that have an Irish/Gaelic feel to them.

Pretty much the only image [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] conjures for me is arrogant, ill-fated [name_m]Major[/name_m] [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] [name_m]Heyward[/name_m] of The Last of the Mohicans. Donuts wouldn’t even have crossed my mind. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if the occasional person does comment, I think he can live with it. In any event, it’s unlikely that he will spend his entire life in an area where there are that many Dunkin’s. At some point he’s going to go to college, travel the world, etc. In short, I don’t think it need be much of a consideration.

I live in the northeast and didn’t think of donuts. The city that I work in has at least three and several more inside other businesses. I think your little [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] is safe from teasing. Everyone is teased about something and if “[name_m]Duncan[/name_m] Donuts” is the best they can do, he has it pretty easy. If you are concerned about teasing, occasionally, call him your “sweet little donut” occasionally and he won’t give it much thought if he hears it on the playground. Bullying continues when it is effective.
