Thanks to all who’ve helped so far as I’ve posted a couple times in our naming process for baby #2[name_f][/name_f], a boy joining us in [name_f]July[/name_f] 🩵 [name_f][/name_f]Big sister is Ell0ry Elizab3th. Our last name is K—-X (sounds like “Coatings”).
[name_f][/name_f]
We’ve recently talked about the name [name_m]Everett[/name_m] J0hn. (John is an honor name). We like [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as the potential nickname, if he wanted to go by one someday.
[name_f][/name_f]
I never thought I’d like another E name. I often refer to my daughter over text as “E” though not verbally. Mostly, I don’t like matching letters for siblings (worried about it being a tongue twister or too cutesy), and I wouldn’t want to be locked into E for future kids.
[name_f][/name_f]
Are Ell0ry and [name_m]Everett[/name_m] too matchy? I feel the styles complement each other, and love the sound of [name_m]Everett[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] stuck a little on the matching first letters/sounds…
first of all, both your daughter’s name and everett john “rhett” are so sweet. i’ve always had a soft spot for e names, and though i personally don’t like matching initials for siblings, i could see myself doing it if i truly loved both names! plus, ellory and everett have so many different sounds, and that helps them feel not too forced or matchy. along with this, if he opts to go by “rhett” that also fixes your double “e” problem!
[name_f][/name_f]
to summarize i’ve always believed that if you love a name, you should use it, regardless of how it sounds in your sibling set!
I think they are fine for siblings! Not too matchy at all. I wouldn’t like something like Ell0ry and [name_m]Elliott[/name_m] or Ell0ry and [name_m]Emory[/name_m], for example, but [name_m]Everett[/name_m] sounds more than distinct enough with the unique second letter and ending sound. [name_m]Everett[/name_m] J0hn is such a great name!
[name_f][/name_f]
And in text you could abbreviate to [name_f]El[/name_f] and Ev maybe?
Ahhh I love these names honestly I think Ell0ry & [name_m]Everett[/name_m] ‘Rhett’ sound fabulous together. I feel even though they both names begin with an E they have such different sounds that they do not feel matchy at all. Also even though I wouldn’t personally share initials within a sibling set if I truly loved a name I would. Finally [name_f][/name_f] lots of sibling sets share initials and it doesn’t come across cutesy etc. I think also as the sounds are distinctive like with Ell0ry & [name_m]Everett[/name_m] it’s fine and we really do overthink sibling sets go with the name you love rather than worrying about how sibling sets look.
Ell0ry & [name_m]Everett[/name_m] would be absolutely perfect together, not too matchy at all! Using an E name here definitely would not lock you into E names for future children – my mom & her sister both have the same first initial, but their younger two siblings don’t.
I can normally take or leave matching sibling initial names and didn’t do it with mine. But I’m a sucker for E names [name_f][/name_f]- I’m a E and have a baby girl E. Our girl list was always E heavy!
[name_f][/name_f]
That said [name_f][/name_f]- I love [name_f]Ellory[/name_f] and [name_m]Everett[/name_m]! Both together and by themselves. I think that’s a loving pairing and the option of [name_m]Everett[/name_m] going by [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] gives you even more flexibility.
[name_f]Ellory[/name_f] and [name_m]Everett[/name_m] go great together! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they start with the same letter, they don’t sound at all matchy (and if [name_m]Everett[/name_m] goes mostly by [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], you wouldn’t have any problem!) I don’t think two sibling names with the same first inital lock you into any themes-three, probably, but I think two is fine.
Ev£rett J♡hn is a great name! Very charming and handsome. [name_f][/name_f]Although E||ory and Ev♧rett share the same initial, I think they are easily distinguishable. They have a similar style and energy, but their sounds are different enough to be used for siblings. In my opinion, they don’t feel too matchy. I think Ev&rett is a safe choice. [name_f][/name_f]If you truly love it, I believe it may be the perfect name for your son!
I think it’s fine! With potential nickname [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], they could be E and R, or even E and EJ [name_f][/name_f] They don’t feel too matchy to me!
