If some of you may remember, [name]Rachel[/name] is one of my favorite girls’ names, and I’d like to use an “E” MN with it to honor my sister (whose initials are RE, as well). I am 100% in love with my current combo ([name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]), and have been for probably years now, but I’m also 100% decided on using two MNs, and I am finding it hard to make a second MN work with [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name], which is already long and flowy and very girly. Any second MN I find to pair with it doesn’t seem as great as just [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] is, so I’ve decided to branch out and see if there’s another “E” MN I like with [name]Rachel[/name] just as much, which will work just as well.
So far I’ve tossed around [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emma[/name], [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Eva[/name], and [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emilia[/name]. I like [name]Emilia[/name] because it’s essentially my great-grandma’s MN, but I’m even less sure about that than the others. I’d like something a bit fresh and unexpected (i.e., no [name]Elizabeth[/name]/[name]Elise[/name]/[name]Emily[/name]) since [name]Rachel[/name] is already quite familiar and even dated to a lot of people–I’d like something that freshens up [name]Rachel[/name] to most people, without overshadowing it.
Ok, I’m a big fan of [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name], but I can see how this is long when you want to add a second mn.
I’ve been looking at the name and I think what I really like about the flow is the “eline” part. I checked NB and [name]Eline[/name] is a name, perhaps nn.
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Eline[/name] (I think it’s pretty, but don’t know if it’s too made up sounding?)
Of your choices,
I like [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] the best! I think it lightens up [name]Rachel[/name] and gives it a pretty flow.
I’m not loving the other choices, there’s something about pairing [name]Eve[/name] with [name]Rachel[/name] that doesn’t work for me. It might be better when a second mn is added. I think you could do better than [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emma[/name] as well.
Other ideas that I’m not sure is your style:
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Eden[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Ever/name
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emory[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Embeth[/name]
Rachel Estelle
The trouble with [name]Rachel[/name] is that is ends with an “l” and therefore runs into names that begin with vowels such as “E”. Since it’s honoring your sister, this problem can be overlooked :). Many mythological names would liven [name]Rachel[/name] up a bit! Here are some suggestions.
You could always get a similar feel to [name]Evangeline[/name] with 2 names like
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Eva[/name] [name]Lena[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] Evana [name]Lynn[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] Evana [name]Gale[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Elena[/name] [name]Gem[/name]
Thanks, ladies! I do love [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Eliana[/name], [name]Esme[/name], [name]Esmeralda[/name] (especially since this and [name]Esme[/name] are also family names!), [name]Evelina[/name], [name]Eden[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], etc., but they just don’t seem to wow me like [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] does. At this point, I think [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]'s still the top contender, with [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emma[/name] as a (distant) second. [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Emma[/name] does seem a bit plain, but I’ve really been loving [name]Emma[/name] as a MN lately.
I guess it’s back to the drawing board for a second MN for [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]…
