Ok so I love both names equally for different reasons. I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] for its old fashioned traditional sound and I love [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] because it’s softer and cheery. People’s opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Other boys names we like and are on our list include [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] If that helps at all. Last name ends in a strong D sound so currently leaning towards [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] but unsure.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is nice & has a cute old man feel to it. I don’t personally care for [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], & that may be unavoidable. I do like just [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_m]Ned[/name_m]. That all being said, I love [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]. It’s my little nephew’s name, & it really is soft & cheery. It gets mispronounced sometimes, but people usually figure it out pretty quickly. It sounds like [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] has a nicer flow w/your ln too.
I vote for [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]! I think its classic but still original, certainly its own name. It seems to fit better with [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_f]IMO[/name_f], too.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is also lovely, feels a bit more posh than you other names to me for some reason.
I love both, but with [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] & [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] I’d go with [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] (I think with a D last name, it might flow a bit better too).
I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] best but also like [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. If [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] sounds good with the surname I would choose it but from what you say it may not, in which case the other names are good.
My personal preference is [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] — it’s so solid and sturdy, but sort of cuddly too!
But it sounds like [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] might be the better choice for you. It goes well with your other Celtic/Gaelic names and seems to flow better with your surname.
I actually really like both choices! [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is strong, vintage and familiar while still having a distinctive feel - it hasn’t been overused like many other classic boy names. I like that vintage vibe it gives off, especially compared to [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. However, I personally don’t like any nicknames that could come of it…except for maybe [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]?
On the other hand, I quite like [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] too. It’s fresh, interesting and unusual. My second cousin’s name is [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], though I never knew how to actually spell it until a few months ago (I’d only ever heard it spoken aloud), so you might run into some spelling issues
I prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], I think, but I like [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] too! I guess pronunciation issues could exist depending on where you live, but here in the UK I wouldn’t imagine there would be any issues with pronouncing [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] (and maybe Australia is the same…?) I think [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is more classic and traditional for sure, which is probably why I prefer it.
