Eamon or Ian?

We are having trouble deciding between [name]Eamon[/name] or [name]Ian[/name]. We like that [name]Eamon[/name] is a little less popular, though [name]Ian[/name] may sound a little better with our last name (begins with Mc). Any feedback would be wonderful! Also, we aren’t sure about middle names for [name]Eamon[/name], we like [name]David[/name] with [name]Ian[/name].

I really love [name]Eamon[/name] and [name]Ian[/name]! I think [name]Eamon[/name] is a bit less predictable. I would love to meet a little [name]Eamon[/name]! I’ve always loved [name]Matthew[/name] paired with [name]Eamon[/name]–I think [name]Matthew[/name] [name]Eamon[/name] or [name]Eamon[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] would be handsome.

I love love love [name]Eamon[/name]. I like [name]Eamon[/name] [name]Jack[/name] or [name]Eamon[/name] [name]Theo[/name] or even [name]Eamon[/name] [name]James[/name]. I tend to like family middles, so you could also think about that.

[name]Eamon[/name] gets my vote. I find [name]Ian[/name] very awkward to say.

I like them both, but [name]Eamon[/name] has the edge. Great-looking spelling, and it has such an old-fashioned, rough beauty.

I vote for [name]Ian[/name]

I like both names, but I think [name]Eamon[/name] is a little cooler. Is [name]David[/name] a family name, or do you prefer more traditional names in the middle?
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Stanley[/name]

[name]Ian[/name] is one of my all time favorite names so it gets my vote. I really like [name]Eamon[/name] to though!
Either way you can’t go wrong.

[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Timothy[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Lionel[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Leander[/name]

I love [name]Eamon[/name]/[name]Eamonn[/name]! I know a college-aged [name]Eamon[/name] and he’s incredibly smart.

I love [name]Eamon[/name] too. I went to college with one. I think it’s masculine, handsome, and unique. I tend to go traditional for middle names so I’m thinking [name]Eamon[/name] [name]John[/name] Mc____.

I like both [name]Ian[/name] and [name]Eamon[/name], I think I like [name]Ian[/name] more but [name]Eamon[/name] is a little more unexpected and quirky.

I really love both names! I agree that [name]Eamon[/name] is a little less expected, but I can’t disount [name]Ian[/name]. I personally have never met an [name]Ian[/name].

I love [name]Ian[/name]! Such a classic and I love the sound.

I like [name]Eamon[/name] too and agree it is more unique, but I think you run into pronunciation issues. [name]Even[/name] though [name]Ian[/name] is also not pronounced phonetically, it is a well-known name so will encounter fewer issues.

I would go with [name]Ian[/name], just because of pronunciation issues with [name]Eamon[/name]. I also can’t get the image out of my head of a Jamaican saying “ayyy mahn”, even though it’s actually pronounced slightly different.

[name]Eamon[/name] is lovely, my four year old neighbour is a lovely little [name]Eamon[/name] with a brother named [name]Finley[/name]. [name]How[/name] about:

[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Steven[/name]

You really can’t go wrong. [name]Both[/name] are amazing. I love love love the name [name]Eamon[/name] but my husband vetoed it because he thought it was too close to his name, [name]Ian[/name]. Too funny!

I’m a firm believer of taking a short list with you to meet the babe. I think when you see the little one, you’ll get a sense of which name belongs to him.

Much prefer [name]Eamon[/name], it sounds gentler and more interesting. But I also have a life-long, irrational hatred of [name]Ian[/name], so there was no contest!

[name]Eamon[/name] is more interesting, imo.

[name]Eamon[/name] is a really great name! [name]Ian[/name] is okay, just a little boring for my taste. [name]Cian[/name]/[name]Kian[/name] is another great name along these kind of lines. As far as MN, I prefer family related ones, so if [name]David[/name] is indeed a family related name, that’d be a fine match up. [name]Eamon[/name] [name]David[/name] McAwesome.

With a McSomething last name, I’d go with [name]Ian[/name] because I think it would flow more gently with your last name. [name]Ian[/name] [name]David[/name] is nice. I like for fns and mns to have special meaning, so I’d suggest considering family names, names of people you’d like to honor, etc. for the mn.
