I knew someone with the name and have always loved how unique and under used the name is. It is a soft, gentle sounding name, but I can imagine a masculine strong man with the name, as well. I like that it is short name, but has a longer formal name that it is associated with… [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m].

I voted for [name_m]Eben[/name_m], but I found your pronunciation of [name_u]Elie[/name_u] to be interesting. I have a friend named [name_u]Elie[/name_u] and he pronounces it uh-lee-uh. He is Egyptian and says that he was named after a distant relative living in the US. Is ell-ee the typical pronunciation? I think that’s how [name_u]Elie[/name_u] Wiesel pronounced his name, but he’s the only other [name_u]Elie[/name_u] I know or know of.

I love [name_m]Eben[/name_m] and Avishai

Yes! [name_u]Elie[/name_u] is [name_m]French[/name_m] for the Hebrew [name_m]Eli[/name_m] but probably a name in other languages as wel.l
