Ebezena

What do you think of Ebezena, Ebby or [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] as a nickname? It was the name of my great-great-great grandmother and I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it. I have no idea what it means or where it’s from but maybe a variation of [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m]? I have read it a few times online and it’s usually someone’s great-great-great something as well.

I would assume it’s a variant of [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m]. I don’t love it, but if you do that’s the main thing! I think [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is cute, [name_f]Zena[/name_f] would also be sweet.

I didn’t make that association until you pointed it out. It looks more like [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m] when written out than when it’s said out loud. What about shortening it to [name_f]Zena[/name_f]? possibly using [name_f]Zena[/name_f] as a middle name?

I’ve never heard of Ebezena but it’s kinda cool. Definitely a very unique name plus has family history.

My honest response was, ick.

I’m sorry but I am not fond of it. My first thought was that it reminded me of emphysema by sound.

My first thought was that it looked like a funny misspelling of [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m]. Ebezena does look almost like a feminization of [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m]. While it’s not difficult to pronounce, I keep wanting to say Ebeneza, which reminds me of someone with an east coast accent saying [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m]. Another pretty immediate connection that came to mind is [name_m]Charles[/name_m] Dickens’ [name_m]Ebenezer[/name_m] Scrooge from A [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] [name_f]Carol[/name_f]. Overall, I am not a fan, but I do think [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] is really cute
