Ok I’m still brainstorming, will you brainstorm with me? I’m having fun at the moment! Thankyou all for your opinions on my previous post, it hadn’t even occured to me that [name]Echo[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] sounded like the name of a place! You’re all totally right about that, gosh I love this website, so useful to bounce ideas around, thankyou! Might have to rethink some combinations with those names!
With [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name], hmm, I still love the sound of this name. I realise it’s 2 colours, thats not actually the main reason I love it… Its more the sound of this combination that makes it striking I think… We’ve come to the conclusion that the actual names [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] are not perfect for us, but it’s the SOUND of them together, that make it a spectacular name combination.
(I’ll let you know now though, that I’m also a very artistic person, and must admit my first thought was “wow, it just makes me want to paint!” I found it (and still do find it) truly inspiring, it really did stop me in my tracks.)
Anyway as I said, the colour thing is not THE reason I love the name. I think its a strikingly beautiful name because of the way it SOUNDS.**
Thankyou evelynmargaret for the suggestion of [name]India[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]! …I [name]LOVE[/name] the sound of it, as it is similar to [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] …but unfortunately we are not keen on countries /cities as baby names. Any other ideas?
In order to create the same amount of beauty I find in the name [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name], do you think I need to think of names similar to [name]Indigo[/name] or [name]India[/name] that go with mn [name]Scarlett[/name]? I don’t know, I’m a name newbie sigh
[name]Just[/name] thinking of the name [name]Indigo[/name] as a first name… The main thing that’s holding me back, is it’s unusualness. It is quite “out there” and as much as I love unusual names, I’m not sure I’ll be brave enough to go through with an unusual one in the first name spot. I have a feeling that if we use an unusual name, it will be in the mn spot.
And quite apart from the unusual thing… We’ve also been trying out the name in regular conversation by saying things like “when [name]Indigo[/name] gets here” and we’re not sure if it rolls off the tongue comfortably… It’s, erm, bitty like. In-di-go… It doesn’t flooowww if you see what I mean…
Ok now that I’ve wittered on for ages, onto my question! As I have found everyone on nameberry so wonderful and helpful so far, I wondered if anyone can help me come up with pretty /striking names, that are as spectacular as [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]! (hey it’s a long shot, but worth a try to see what people think, right?)
At the moment I’m pretty sure only one middle name is best for us, andI’d like to save really unusual names for the mn spot!
*I think the key word we are hoping for is “striking” …I’d love to find a name with dramatic beauty and gentleness at the same time, that will make people go “wow” but also be usable in everyday life! …so basically, having the “wow” factor, without being ridiculously over the top/ weird! I hope someone can brainstorm with me!
Ok so, here are some names I feel are really striking, and the reasons we can’t use them, lol! Can you think of any new name ideas/ combinations that I’d like based on these ones that I like?
[name]Raven[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
(first name is way too “out there” but this combo still made us think “wow”)
[name]Echo[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
(quite apart from the first name being too “out there” the mn is a bit “out there” as well!! too hippy I think, one hippy name with a regular name is a good balance!)
[name]Melody[/name] [name]Dawn[/name]
(our surname is Bambrey… names ending in “ee” sound are a no-no… add the mn and there might be too many “D’s” in there… also not sure if this is too sickly sweet to be striking?)
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name]*
(another “ee” name that won’t match our surname, also in my personal opinion, [name]Ophelia[/name] just sounds too much like “I feel ya”)
[name]Indigo[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
(I [name]LOVE[/name] this name, regardless of the two colours, but the name In-di-go doesn’t flow for us, and also might be a bit unusual for first name)
***just a little extra question: can anyone think of names that are sort of similar to [name]Indigo[/name] or [name]India[/name]? I’ve googled my heart out on this one, with nothing to show for it, so I thought I’d ask you guys!
Anyway, so any thoughts on striking name combinations? Thanks for your time, I’m finding nameberry and all of you so helpful!
