I’ve recently been thinking about the name [name_m]Echo[/name_m] for a girl, and I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts!
I find it really beautiful. I love its simplicity, the soft sound, and its connection to Greek mythology. It feels quite ethereal, artistic and a little mysterious to me, while still being a recognisable word.
I know it’s definitely unconventional as a given name, and I’m wondering how people feel about it in everyday life. Do you think it’s wearable? Is it too out there, or do you think it has potential as a first name?
I’m also curious whether anyone actually prefers [name_m]Echo[/name_m] on a boy rather than a girl? I can see it working as a unisex name, but I’m interested to hear which gender people associate it with more.
I’d love to hear your honest opinions, both positive and negative!

I feel like if it was a first name people would always be saying “Echo… echo… echo…” and it would get really annoying for the person whose name it is.

i like echo for a girl, i think she’s pretty sounding and definitely wearable. i’m not sure if it’s just me though, but i couldn’t imagine a red head named echo. i’m not really sure why, and it’s probably just me.
the only echo that i’ve seen was online, and he had a sister named ever, so i’ve definitely assocatied it with boys more just before of him. however, that would probably change if i met/saw a little girl named echo.

It reminds me a lot of [name_m]Hero[/name_m] as a name – sparkly and extravagant while also being concise and playful. I slightly prefer it on a girl, but it feels fairly neutral.
I do think an [name_m]Echo[/name_m] could get “Echo, [name_m]Echo[/name_m], Echo…” type jokes or comments – which could get annoying – but I guess its similarities to names like [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Coco[/name_f], [name_m]Jericho[/name_m], [name_m]Elio[/name_m], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] helps ground it.

I knew an [name_m]Echo[/name_m] in grade school, and I remember thinking even then that her name was exciting! [name_f]She[/name_f] was older than me, so I thought she was the coolest. Certainly a very cool name.

I went to college with an [name_m]Echo[/name_m] and she is currently very successful in her chosen field – generally thriving. It is a noteworthy name and might come with teasing or at least bad jokes, but I wouldn’t say it’s unwearable.
