I find myself drawn to the name [name]Edana[/name], which is Irish and means “fire” and is a feminization of [name]Aidan[/name]. It looks a lot like [name]Edna[/name], but I think I would pronounce it e-DAHN-ah. What are your thoughts on this name? What does it call to mind? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I know its a very old post but my daughter is named [name_f]Edana[/name_f]. I love the name. Its unique and strong. Posed and dignified but with a bit of spunk. It means tiny flame… and although I often hear it called a feminine form of [name_u]Ayden[/name_u] I feel [name_f]Edana[/name_f] stands on its own right as a name. [name_u]Legend[/name_u] has it [name_f]Edana[/name_f] was a religious or spritual figure in ancient times. It has even been suggested that Edinburgh was named for St [name_f]Edana[/name_f] and means Edanas castle or Edanas fortress… I found it when I was searching deminuitive forms of [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. It isn’t but somehow it still fit.
