Edeline

What do you think of it and how would you pronounce it? I think it’s beautiful.

I would pronounce it E-deh-line.
I don’t know the correct pronunciation, but it sounds a bit awkward to me.

I can see the appeal as it’s part [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and part [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. It just feels like a misspelling of [name_f]Adeline[/name_f].

I would pronounce it [name_m]Ed[/name_m]-uh-line. I think it’s beautiful! [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is a bit close to [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], but [name_f]Edeline[/name_f] feels further away. It also has the trendy E-beginning, cute nn [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] and feels modern, but vintage. I’m developing a serious crush on it in the 15 seconds it’s take me to write this. PP says “E-deh-line” and if I was told that’s how to pronounce the child’s name, I wouldn’t have a problem pronouncing it that way either. [name_m]Ed[/name_m]-uh-line just feels more natural to me. (I’m Canadian). I don’t think it feels like a mispelling of [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], but if you pronounce it “E-duh-line”, then it’s a lot closer to [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] than [name_m]Ed[/name_m]-uh-line. So pretty to look at! [name_f]Edeline[/name_f].

I like it a lot. When I came across it the first time, I saw several pronunciations given (I don’t remember them all), but the one that stuck with me was AY-del-een. I still say it that way; I find it really lilting and gorgeous. I think the nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] or [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is adorable for it.
