DH and I love the name Edelweiss as a potential FN or MN. What are your thoughts on the subject? We are both [name_m]German[/name_m] and our last name is very [name_m]German[/name_m] starting with Sch sound.
My favorite combo far is [name_f]Jovie[/name_f] Edelweiss. Is [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] Edelweiss too much?
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f] Edelweiss is absolutely stunning!! I really like it!
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] Edelweiss is quite a big name and I’d personally pair [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] with something shorter but if you’re brave, I think you could go with it! [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] offers a lot of very wearable nn which works in its favour.
Thinking about both your choices, I’d suggest [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] Edelweiss or [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] Edelweiss
I love the suggestion of [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] Edelweiss, and will echo that suggestion. I really like Edelweiss! I dislike [name_f]Jovie[/name_f], however, and I think that [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is a bit much with Edelweiss but I prefer it to [name_f]Jovie[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Jovie[/name_f] Edelweiss a lot-- I’d go for it. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] Edelweiss is a mouthful-- maybe [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] as a compromise?
Edelweiss makes for a gorgeous name. My first thought when I see Edelweiss is ‘The Sound of Music’ and the song and as that was my absolute favourite movie growing up (I’d watch it on repeat) that is a very positive association for me, and I wouldn’t mind others making that same connection. I think many might have this movie as their only association with Edelweiss, so it might be a good idea to think on whether this would bother you or not? [I have Edelweiss on my own list as a middle, for the above association, as well as a namesake for my grandmother, Ethel, and my grandfather’s German heritage.]
Jovie Edelweiss is very nice as it is such a joyous and playful combo - lovely indeed. Also, I love Hermione Edelweiss – just gorgeous – and if you feel brave enough to give your little one such a big, bold name, please do, it’s fantastic!
If you think you can pull it off, I do like Edelweiss as a first name too, particularly with nicknames Ada, Eva (AY-vuh), Della & Essie.
I love the use of Edelweiss as a middle name! It’s beautiful when written out and it makes a nod to your [name_m]German[/name_m] heritage!
I love the sound of [name_f]Jovie[/name_f] Edelweiss! [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] Edelweiss is quite a large name, and it may be hard for her to learn or spell at a young age. It is still a great combination as far as sound goes.
