I think Edelweiss has great middle name potential!
I actually really love it, I think [name_m]Edel[/name_m] (as Ay-del) makes an adorable nickname and I think people are familiar enough with the song not to mispronounce Edelweiss. It’s a name you’ve got to be brave to use, but I don’t think it’s unusable.
I have always loved the idea of this as a name! Really love it! 
Nope, nope, nope! As a Swiss person speaking this is just ridiculous and all I can think of is the Swiss airline called Edelweiss
