Eden?!

After having a unisex name and really not liking having it, I made myself a promise (really, the only stipulation on my list, other than actually having to love it) that I would never give a future daughter of mine a unisex name–at least, not up front.

I’m reading a novel with an [name_u]Eden[/name_u] as the main character, though, and she’s really made me love it! I adore the nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f], and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] just seems so sweet and girly and down-to-earth. I love the Biblical significance of [name_u]Eden[/name_u], and as it’s the name of a place, it doesn’t necessarily have masculine origins, does it? Maybe I’m just trying to talk myself into using it.

What are your thoughts on [name_u]Eden[/name_u]? Yay or nay? Does [name_u]Eden[/name_u] even work with [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Arianne[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Lilian[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Kaia[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], etc.? What MN would you pick for an [name_u]Eden[/name_u]? So far, I’ve tossed around [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Milena[/name_f], and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], but I don’t want to use [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], as I’ve got her a million other places on my list, and I feel weird about using another noun name with [name_u]Eden[/name_u] (like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], or [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f], or [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], or [name_f]Violet[/name_f], or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]).

Thanks, Berries!

I personally love the name [name_u]Eden[/name_u] it’s actually on my list. For the middle names you had, I think the middle names that had 4 syllables sounded nice, like your ideas of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] azalea and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] felicity

In my personal experience, having known both male and female [name_u]Eden[/name_u]'s and having a little sister named [name_u]Eden[/name_u], is that my little sister hasn’t really had any problems with her name at all, gender wise at least, especially as she has the nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f] / [name_f]Edie[/name_f]-Ru- she had quite a few people who can’t spell her name right, she does get ‘[name_u]Edan[/name_u]’ a sometimes, which annoys her somewhat, considering how easy it is to spell and how well known the Garden of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is. I am super biased, but I adore the name [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I think that it is both sweet and spunky and it grows beautifully as a name.

I personally think that [name_u]Eden[/name_u] works beautifully with all of the names you’ve listed. My little sister is [name_u]Eden[/name_u] (nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f], and her middle name is [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]), and my name is [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]- I personally think that those two names work really well together. A sibset of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] would be lovely, in my opinion- the combination [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is gorgeous too.

P.S: [name_m]Just[/name_m] had a look at your signature and I love it: my sister [name_u]Eden[/name_u]'s best friend is named [name_m]Boaz[/name_m], and one of my cousins is [name_f]Eleni[/name_f].

I have to comment because my first daughter’s name is [name_u]Eden[/name_u]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Didn’t take me long to pick it out either. Which is way different from my third baby girl now due in [name_f]July[/name_f]! Having a hard time! My daughter, [name_u]Eden[/name_u], is now 12 and is tall, slender, and beautiful like her name!

I love [name_u]Eden[/name_u]! I don’t usually go for unisex names either, but for me, [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is a way to use [name_f]Edith[/name_f] without actually using [name_f]Edith[/name_f] lol.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] Creek is where I met my husband, and I just love [name_f]Edith[/name_f], however [name_u]Eden[/name_u] just works.

I love [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f].

I forgot to say that I think [name_u]Eden[/name_u] goes very nicely with your names, and I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] best from your list

[name_u]Eden[/name_u] has been one of my recent loves too! I agree with pretty much everything you said about it. I find [name_u]Eden[/name_u] strong, spunky, and girly. Since it really isn’t popular for either gender (and doesn’t have male roots) I think it’s perfectly acceptable on boys and girls. Personally I only know of girls named [name_u]Eden[/name_u] so it’s pretty feminine to me.

Of your middle names I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

In your signature, I adore [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] or [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]!

I’m not super familiar with the Bible, but I consider [name_u]Eden[/name_u] to be a place name more than a noun name. So [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] doesn’t sound like two nouns to me (and for what it’s worth I think they’re awesome together).

I know that [name_u]Eden[/name_u] can be a boy name, but I’ve never encountered it on a boy/man in real life - I think it varies depending where you are in the world (I live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]). I wouldn’t be shocked to see it on a boy but if I saw [name_u]Eden[/name_u] on a list with no context I’d assume the person was a girl.

I adore [name_f]Edie[/name_f] as a nn to [name_u]Eden[/name_u]! I tried to get my SO to agree to it but he vetoed.
I think [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is perfect! I understand the meaning of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] but it really doesn’t come across as a noun to me.

I love the name [name_u]Eden[/name_u]! Then again, it’s my baby-cousin’s name, so I’m biased! (and she’s a girl, too).

[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rosamond[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Clarimond[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] Lysandra
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Marissa[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

I love [name_u]Eden[/name_u]! I know that technically it can also be a boy’s name but I’ve never run into a male in real life with the name so I view it as completely feminine.

I love [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and it’s on my list. It’s a cute name that is to the point and, for myself, I love how the nickname ([name_f]Edie[/name_f]) isn’t too in your face and people won’t go to it first, as [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is short enough as it is (dislike the nn). [name_u]Eden[/name_u] goes great with your names and I like the combo [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I also like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. I know of one girl [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and one boy [name_f]Edyn[/name_f].

My friend has a daughter named [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and it’s really grown on me. I also think nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is super cute!

Of your middle names, I really like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. If you’re into [name_u]Eden[/name_u] for the aesthetics and not the biblical association, I’d stay away from other biblical names. I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. Names ending in a don’t usually work in the middle but I think it sounds really pretty with [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and adds some femininity.

@kikibanana - if anything, I love the Biblical association. It’s half the appeal for me. I really love your suggestions of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], though.

[name_u]Eden[/name_u] is kind of common in the town I live in. I know 3 girls that are about 8 years old but no boys. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] rolls off the tongue quite well. I think [name_u]Eden[/name_u] “goes” with quite a few of your other likes… [name_f]Arianne[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], violet

[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is GORGEOUS! I think [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is super cute and fun and spunky and girly.

I have never heard [name_u]Eden[/name_u] on a boy!!! I think of it as 100% feminine.

I’ll be a bit brutally honest, though: I really dislike the name [name_u]Eden[/name_u] because it seems like a stereotypical “stripper” name to me. I just don’t see how the name [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is classified so differently than names like [name_f]Heaven[/name_f], [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f], Paradise, etc. clearly I am in the minority, though!!

[name_u]Eden[/name_u] is very.pretty

I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u], I personally dont see it as masculine at all although I know it is considered unisex.

I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].

[name_m]Just[/name_m] lovely, I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
