Would a sibset consisting of [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Edmund[/name] be too close? [name]Edith[/name] begins with an “eee” sound, while [name]Edmund[/name] begins with an “eehhh” sound, but the fact that they both have an “[name]Ed[/name]-” beginning makes me question if they’re too close.
I am more sold on [name]Edith[/name] than [name]Edmund[/name] because there are so few girls’ names that I love haha. Anyway, let me know your thoughts
I don’t think so, due to the syllable breaks. [name]Edith[/name] breaks into E-dith, not [name]Ed[/name]-ith, so it’s distinctive from [name]Edmund[/name].
Btw I like the glamorous French spelling [name]Edythe[/name].
I like both names I recently found out that my great grandmother went by [name]Edie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Edith[/name]. I’d never really thought about it before as a possible list maker but I definitely warming to it more.
[name]Both[/name] great, old [name]Saxon[/name] names-- although [name]Edie[/name] and [name]Eddie[/name] would probably be too close-- you could do [name]Edie[/name] and [name]Ted[/name] for nns though.
[name]Edith[/name] and [name]Edmond[/name] are both great names which I personally love but together… I don’t know. I am not a fan of matchy names but it’s hard in this case because are quite similar but start with a different sound. [name]Edie[/name] and [name]Eddie[/name] are too close but I think [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Edmond[/name] could work.
Sorry I’m not very helpful, I’m a bit torn on this myself.
I love the idea of [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Edmund[/name] together- they’re so sweet and spunky! Though both have the same [name]Ed[/name] begining, their sounds are fairly different. My only concern is what you would name a third child- would it be another [name]Ed[/name] name, or something different? [name]Just[/name] something to consider.
[name]Hope[/name] that helps!
