Ok so I love both names equally for different reasons. I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] for its old fashioned traditional sound and I love [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] because it’s softer and cheery. People’s opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Other boys names we like are [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] If that helps at all. Last name ends in a strong D sound so currently leaning towards [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] but unsure.
I love [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] as number one, but also [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. I have never met an [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] but I do find it an attractive sound. There isn’t anything wrong with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] but it does feel a bit stuffy and depending on where you live, but here it would default to the nickname [name_m]Ed[/name_m] when he is older.
A suggestion - try posting under Boys Names and I think you will get more replys as those threads are always busier.
I love both names! [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is also handsome.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about nicknames? That could be one way to decide. For example, if you don’t like nicknames I’d go for [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]. You could call him Aim/Aims but it’s not as easy as calling an [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Ed[/name_m]/[name_m]Eddy[/name_m] (or even [name_m]Ned[/name_m], Ted and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] if you ARE nickname fans).
Both have a disadvantage when it comes to sound, [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] finishing in the letter that your surname starts with and [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]'s first syllable making “Hey [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]” sound awkward because of the repeating sound (unless that’s something that only I am bothered by?). Either way I don’t think either is that big a deal.
I slightly prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] because I’m big on nicknames but you can’t go wrong with either! Good luck
