Edwin

How do we feel about [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]?
Is it sweet, cute, old school and timeless? [name_u]Or[/name_u] is it crusty and rusty?

Re-looking at [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] today and it feels like I could picture it on a sweet infant, rambunctious toddler and little boy, and a strapping young man.
I think my main hang up is with the nickname [name_m]Ed[/name_m]. I saw in an old Nameberry post someone mentioned [name_u]Win[/name_u] or [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] as nicknames, but also it’s so short I think people might not try to give a nickname unless the parents called them by something other than [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]? All together, I like tha même, but the emphasis on [name_m]Ed[/name_m] in the beginning isn’t my favorite?

i really like Edwin! if had a son named Edwin, i’d nickname him Winnie, but i’d expect people to call him Ed or Eddie occasionally since those are natural nicknames for Ed- names. Edwin feels timeless to me - i can definitely see it on any age, like you mentioned.

of the names you listed, i really like Edwin Arthur, Edwin Alistair, Edwin Ambrose, and Edwin Augustus. i’d probably use Edwin Arthur, Edwin Ulysses, or Edwin Levi!

I think [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is an adorable name that has a cool, vintage vibe with a touch of [name_f]British[/name_f] charm.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites from your combos are: [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Watson[/name_u], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u]

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is my fave of the ‘Ed-’ names, I think. Cute, clunky, old fashioned, not too popular. I know a young [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] (about 6 now?) and he wears it well - and it’s also my guinea pig’s full name

I love [name_u]Win[/name_u] as a nickname - so cool! I also like [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] - and there’s [name_m]Ted[/name_m] and [name_m]Ned[/name_m] too

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] are great

I love [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! And I think [name_m]Ned[/name_m] would be a very endearing nickname–completely different image than [name_m]Ed[/name_m], for me.

I looooove [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]! Such an underappreciated name! I feel like it is a hidden gem that hits the spot between unusual and recognizable. It feels very academic and charming to me.

The only [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] I have ever known went by [name_m]Ned[/name_m]. I think Ned/Neddy and Ted/Teddy are the best nicknames for [name_m]Edwin[/name_m].

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] are great.

I love [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] (and similar Edmund) because they do carry the Ed/Ted nn but standout as a unique choice. I personally thing the W middle names clash with the w in [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], especially if [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is the nn, but my favorites are

[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]Nolan[/name_u]
