Malachite
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Benvolio[/name_m] (maybe more as a middle, but I love it)

A lot of the ‘safer’ or classic names on your list are good too and I like a lot of your word names as middles

I’d lose:

[name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Damon[/name_m]
[name_m]Kalixto[/name_m]
[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]
[name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m]

[name_m]Anakin[/name_m]
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]
*[name_u]Denver[/name_u]
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]
Zelophehad
Zellan
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]

[name_u]Walker[/name_u]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]
Helian
Almanzo
[name_m]Newt[/name_m]

Of your combos, I love [name_m]Judah[/name_m] [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]

Thank both of you @yuma and @grey blue, your input had been very helpful

Keep for sure: [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m], [name_u]Remington[/name_u], [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], [name_m]Judah[/name_m], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_m]Boaz[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Perseus[/name_m], [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_u]Dean[/name_u], [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], Zellan, [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_u]Walker[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_u]Drew[/name_u], Almanza

Absolutely remove (there are lots of names on your list that aren’t my style. These are the names that I think are unusable or absolutely should not be used. Names that I think could be a cool middle but not a great first are unlisted):

[name_m]Eugene[/name_m] - beyond dated.
Ze’ev - The only place I’ve heard this from is a wolf human mutant in a YA novel. Not a fan. No one will know how to spell or pronounce it.
[name_m]Anakin[/name_m] - It’s literally the name of a character who goes psycho and kills everyone…
[name_m]Koda[/name_m] - Sounds like a dog name and I can’t see it on an adult.
Psalm - The newest Kardashian baby name is not a good choice.
[name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] - Too difficult to spell and pronounce.
Galahad / Zelophehad / [name_m]Gawaine[/name_m] - Absolutely not. I know these have some cool associations but saddling a child with any of these names feels like the equivalent of a kick me sign. [name_m]Gawaine[/name_m] might work as a middle.
D’artagnan - Another kick me sign.
[name_m]Benvolio[/name_m]
[name_m]Fagan[/name_m] - Considering that the first three letters are a slur… no thank you.
Foxglove - Doesn’t sound like a name.
[name_m]Newt[/name_m] - Primary association for many is probably [name_m]Newt[/name_m] Gingrich (if you like his political views, that’s okay) but I dislike this as a name also and think it sounds very dated.

@alchemicallypurplefairy - thank you for your thoughts, they are greatly appreciated. Thank you for pointing out that the newest Kardashian was named Psalm, I was unaware of the fact.

My favourites:

[name_m]Leonidas[/name_m]
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthias[/name_m]

I also like:

[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]

I think to an extent we have similar taste in names.
This is like a lot of names and I’m thinking I’ll leave some general notes…
Try organizing it in a way that makes it easier to hear down.
For example by syllable then by style perhaps?
And alphabetically.
Is your goal here to seed out anything you won’t use of find the ones you like best?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have something specific you like better about certain names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want to pick a fav from each letter ? So you don’t reuse, divide into first and middle names?
Or is the goal just to make the list shorter and more managable.
Is it possible to choose one -iah / -ah name one -el name & one -s name?
Maybe meanings can help you narrow down names?
And then weed out repetitive beginnings, things that have less meaning for you than others… You can even do this on paper with a highlighter… Like if you use [name_u]Eden[/name_u] will you still want to use [name_u]Hayden[/name_u] or is that too close? Which do you prefer? And maybe kinda go from there and see what you have at that point? Narrowing things down can be so hard.

Sorry if I am harsh, I just tried to be honest. Of course, everyone has difficult tastes, so I just tried to vocalize my own.

[name_u]Hayden[/name_u]: long-time fan
[name_m]Canaan[/name_m]: strong name

[name_f]Sapphire[/name_f]: solidly girl to me
[name_m]Boaz[/name_m]: sounds clunky
[name_m]Leonidas[/name_m]: too much
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m]: reminds me of garrote
[name_m]Damon[/name_m]: too close to [name_m]Damon[/name_m], though I like [name_m]Damian[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]: bad association
Taran: too similar to girls’ [name_f]Taryn[/name_f]
[name_m]Eugene[/name_m]: doesn’t have a very pleasing sound
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]: bad association
[name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m]: clunky though [name_m]Jedi[/name_m] is so cool!
[name_m]Killian[/name_m]: too close to “Kill [name_m]Ian[/name_m]”. [name_m]Cillian[/name_m] is ok though
[name_u]Shay[/name_u]: makes me think of shaggy mops
Psalm: too wordy
[name_f]Praise[/name_f]: ditto
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]: too much name

D’artagnan: way too much
Zellan: not for me
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]: clunky
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]: fine name, just not for me
[name_m]Benvolio[/name_m]: frilly
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]: bad association
[name_m]Fagan[/name_m]: reminds me of another word
Faelan: cute but sounds like a girls’ name
Foxglove: seems like a horse name
[name_m]Creighton[/name_m]: bad association
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]: ditto
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m]: doesn’t sound very pleasing
[name_u]Drew[/name_u]: dated
Almanzo: sounds like almonds
[name_m]Newt[/name_m]: too wordy

I really like [name_m]Judah[/name_m] [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], [name_m]Kalixto[/name_m] Ze’ev, and [name_m]Fagan[/name_m] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u].

I’d get rid of:

[name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_u]Denver[/name_u]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]
Zelophehad - a bit much
D’artagnan - very out there, I can see the appeal though

My Top 10:

[name_u]Remington[/name_u]
[name_m]Leonidas[/name_m]
[name_m]Eugene[/name_m]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
[name_m]Killian[/name_m]
[name_m]Percival[/name_m]
[name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]

I just love these names, I can definitely imagine myself using these names

[name_u]Remington[/name_u] [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
[name_m]Percival[/name_m] [name_m]Eugene[/name_m]

YES:
[name_u]Remington[/name_u] - I love [name_u]Remy[/name_u], such a sweet name.
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] - More interesting than [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], but just as solid and has that great soft sound.
[name_m]Boaz[/name_m] - Has that cool z without being too unfamiliar or obscure. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname [name_u]Bo[/name_u].
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] - A bit boring compared to your other options, but [name_u]Sam[/name_u] is an undeniably great name.
[name_m]Gareth[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this for you! Interesting Welsh choice with a great meaning and intuitive spelling/pronunciation.
Taran - I like the sound of this one, though spelling could be an issue.
[name_u]Shay[/name_u] - Underused but familiar. Appealing, friendly Irish sound.
[name_m]Percival[/name_m] - I just really like [name_u]Percy[/name_u].
[name_m]Judah[/name_m] - Still always a bit close to [name_m]Judas[/name_m] for my liking, but an appealing sound.
[name_m]Koda[/name_m] - Great meaning, would fit right in with current trends.
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] - Such a fun name!
[name_m]Emrys[/name_m] - Also love this idea for you. Legendary history, but accessible sound.
[name_u]Denver[/name_u] - I haven’t considered this as a first name before, but I like it!
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] - [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is such a great nickname, and this is the perfect color to be named for.
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] - Solid, underused, familiar and friendly.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - One of my favorites. I love the significance of this tree. I believe druids associated it with protection.
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] - I love the proper Welsh spelling of this name. Accessible, but distinctive.
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] - [name_f]Zee[/name_f] is much fresher than [name_m]Zeke[/name_m].
[name_u]Micah[/name_u] - Friendly, soft sound.
[name_m]Matthias[/name_m] - See [name_u]Micah[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] both of these options.
Zellan - This is unusual but accessible. I like [name_m]Zel[/name_m].
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] - Nanty is a bit weird, but I love [name_u]Nat[/name_u].
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] - Like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], a bit predictable, but it’s popular for a reason.
[name_u]Walker[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this! Familiar but underused and great namesakes.

MAYBE:
[name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m] - A lot of name for a little one, but interesting sounds.
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] - A bit too Gone With The Wind for me.
[name_m]Azaiah[/name_m] - Az is cool, but I’m unsure about pronunciation.
[name_m]Leonidas[/name_m] - I like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] fine, but [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m] is a lot of name.
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] a bit boring, but a nice name.
[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] - Would be a cool middle!
[name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m] - Not personal favorite, but it’s fine.
[name_m]Killian[/name_m] - Not crazy about having the “kill” syllable in there.
Psalm - Very Kardashian-[name_u]West[/name_u], but appealing.
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m] - This works, but I don’t love it.
[name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] - A lot of name, but Zeph is very cool.
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] - Prefer for a girl.
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m] - Heavily Spanish, wouldn’t use if I didn’t speak the language.
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u] - I’m not a big surname person, but this could work.
Malachite - Would be mistaken for [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] often, but I like this word name better.
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u] - Very [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] [name_u]Fallon[/name_u]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Falcon[/name_u]?
[name_m]Hector[/name_m] - See [name_m]Raphael[/name_m].
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m] - I think this is very cool, but not sure if it’s too tied to [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] Mortensen.
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] - A little bit past its prime.
[name_m]Canaan[/name_m] - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love the sound or spelling here. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Canyon[/name_u]?
[name_u]Drew[/name_u] - See [name_u]Hayden[/name_u].

NO:
[name_f]Sapphire[/name_f] - I don’t love the sound, and I don’t think I would want to be a little boy named [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f].
[name_m]Damon[/name_m] - Always reminds me of demon.
[name_m]Eugene[/name_m] - Dated.
Ze’ev - I prefer [name_m]Zev[/name_m], and I think it would be less of a hassle for the child.
[name_m]Anakin[/name_m] - Too tied to the character.
[name_m]Perseus[/name_m] - Too lofty when [name_m]Percival[/name_m] or just [name_u]Percy[/name_u] are available.
[name_m]Kalixto[/name_m] - There’s just a lot going on with the sounds in this name.
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] - I don’t think I would want this to be my name, but it would be a nice middle.
[name_f]Praise[/name_f] - Would be a nice middle.
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] - Too much name, and a bit dated.
Galahad - High expectations for a baby.
Zelophehad - I don’t even know how to start to pronounce this.
[name_m]Gawaine[/name_m] - Too much name.
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m] - Dated.
D’Artagnan - Too much name.
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] - I personally hate the sound of [name_m]Thad[/name_m].
[name_m]Benvolio[/name_m] - [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is easier and more familiar.
[name_m]Fagan[/name_m] - In [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] Twist, the character [name_m]Fagan[/name_m] is pretty antisemitic, and I think that character association is strong.
Foxglove - [name_m]Fox[/name_m] is alright, but this is too fantastical for a real child.
Helian - I don’t like the “Hel” syllable at the beginning.
Almanzo - I wouldn’t call a real baby [name_m]Manly[/name_m] like [name_m]Little[/name_m] House.
[name_m]Newt[/name_m] - I don’t love [name_m]Newt[/name_m] Gingrich, and I don’t think this is the most appealing animal to be named after.
Faelan - Confusing spelling, and not appealing sound.
[name_m]Creighton[/name_m] - Not an appealing sound.

Thank you so much everyone who has give their opinions in our list! It’s been really helpful on narrowing things down. I took @dinosaursroar advice and started organizing it by similar sounds to help weed out names that are similar (the problem with this is choosing WHICH of those names we like best). Again, you have all been very helpful

I’ve not got a lot of time, but thought I’d just list my bottom ten and suggest eliminating

[name_m]Boaz[/name_m] – awkward, abrupt, unpleasant sound.
[name_m]Eugene[/name_m] – extremely dated and wouldn’t recommend unless it’s in honor of someone very special.
Ze’ev – too complex and would be constantly misspelled and mispronounced.
[name_m]Anakin[/name_m] – too associated with the character.
[name_m]Percival[/name_m] – see [name_m]Eugene[/name_m].
[name_f]Praise[/name_f] – it feels both very religious (as in praise God) and also, it’s a brand of mayonnaise here, so…
Zelophehad – see Ze’ev.
[name_m]Benvolio[/name_m] – I’m really just not keen on the look or sound.
[name_m]Fagan[/name_m] – a very unpleasant sound and I don’t like the slur in the first three letters.
[name_m]Creighton[/name_m] – just doesn’t look or sound pleasant at all to me.

Also, in regard to your combos, I think Judah Leonidas, Rowan Ezekiel & Thaddeus Newt (this one’s particularly fantastic) are worth keeping, but I’m not a fan of the others.
