So… I have a thing for dated elder-[name_m]Boomer[/name_m] names. [name_u]Joan[/name_u] became more of a warrior name for me because of [name_u]Joan[/name_u] of [name_m]Arc[/name_m]. [name_f]Anita[/name_f] feels like a fresh, spunky Spanish nickname. And [name_f]Rhoda[/name_f]? If other “rose” names are popular, then why not? But there’s one that I’ve really latched on to: [name_f]Eileen[/name_f].
“Come On [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]” makes it musical. Pet Sematary, thought not the best connection, makes it feel youthful. It means “desired”. And it’s Scotch-Irish, which is always a plus for me! I’m having trouble thinking of middles, though. However, I’m really liking [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f].
In conclusion, how do you feel about it? What would you suggest as a middle name?
I think [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] is really pretty! It fits nicely with names that are popular at the moment with E and L sounds such as [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Elliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] etc. I think [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] would fit in perfectly but with a unique flair too!! [name_f]Lena[/name_f]/Leena would be a cute nn if you like nn’s!
Eileen [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] is really sweet and strong sounding!
I really like [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]! I don’t actually find it all that dated. I think the Eil- sound is similar enough to the [name_f]El[/name_f]- names that it fits in, but different enough that it doesn’t blend in.
Eileen has that I sound of popular names atm ([name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u]) and that ee sound of [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. There’s actually something very cute about it!
I find [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] quite elegant sounding! I only know one [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] in her 20s so it does not seem dated to me at all. [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] sounds so cool!
I’m going to throw a spanner in the works and say that I dislike [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]. All I can think of is [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] Wuornos (a serial killer played by [name_f]Charlize[/name_f] [name_m]Theron[/name_m] in the film biopic). Both this and something about its sound makes the name feel very harsh to me, and difficult to imagine on a child. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] in the middle spot though
I like [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] because I know an [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] I love.
I dislike [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] because it sounds like a boomer descendent of [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f]!
I personally don’t like the name [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] (mainly because the song ‘come on [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]’ by Dexys midnight runners), but if that song didn’t exist, im pretty sure my daughters name would be [name_f]Eileen[/name_f].
Eileen is not my cup of tea. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I find it rather dated and it’s not quite in the vintage category yet (in my perception). I have Irish family members and this name is very common among Irish women who are 50+ (I suppose it’s kind of like Susan or Linda in the US), but perhaps it’s less dated and seems fresher in other communities.
