I’d love to get everyone’s thoughts and impressions of [name_f]Eimear[/name_f] (pronounced EE-mer, according to nameberry).
[name_f][/name_f]I adore how she looks on paper, and I love a traditional [name_m]Irish[/name_m] name, but I can’t decide if the sound appeals to my ear or not. I’m located in the US, for reference.
I would pronounce this Eye-mer or Ay-mer. You may have to correct a lot of pronunciations. As for the sound of Ee-mer, it reminds me of Lemur. It could just be me though. (Also, that could make a cute nickname, [name_f]Eimer[/name_f] Lemur) Sorry!
[name_f]My[/name_f] instinctual pronunciation would definitely be EYE-meer, so there may have to be a lot of corrections surrounding the correct pronunciation. I do like the look of it, and my incorrect pronunciation 
[name_f][/name_f], but I don’t love the accurate sounds or the similarity to the word Lemur.
I would pronounce it Eye-meer! Eee-mer just reminds me of lemurs! It looks nice on paper but doesn’t seem very feminine and the sound just isn’t the best.

I’m hit or miss on a lot of [name_m]Irish[/name_m] names, but I always like [name_f]Eimear[/name_f] ok. [name_f][/name_f] There’s others I like more, but I do like it and find it intriguing (and also prefer most [name_f]Em[/name_f] names more, like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f], etc.). [name_f][/name_f] Hadn’t really thought it was any less usable than [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], [name_f]Roisin[/name_f], [name_f]Sinead[/name_f], [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f], [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f], etc., but maybe the Ei- throws people off? [name_f][/name_f] I would be happy to meet an [name_f]Eimear[/name_f]!
