I’ve always preferred [name]Elinor[/name]. Less common, plus there’s a nice literary reference to [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name]'s character in Sense and Sensibility. I think for once you can actually choose an alternative spelling and it’s legit, go for it !
[name]Love[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]! I briefly considered switching to [name]Elinor[/name] when I fell in love with [name]Elinor[/name] Dashwood (love her!), but I just prefer [name]Eleanor[/name] by a mile. It looks so much prettier to me. I don’t really think that [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Elinor[/name] would feel left out if you opted for [name]Eleanor[/name], I think it’d be the expected spelling, anyway. In addition to that–it seems like you’re leaning toward [name]Elinor[/name] because you like the soft “I” sound, but I really have to work hard to say el-IN-or instead of el-LAH-nor, regardless of the spelling. I think a lot of people would still say [name]Ella[/name]-nor even with the [name]Elinor[/name] spelling, and unless there’s a strong sentimental reason for using [name]Elinor[/name] (a beloved family member, [name]Elinor[/name] Dashwood is your favorite fictional character ever, you honeymooned somewhere with a tie to [name]Elinor[/name] vs. [name]Eleanor[/name]…), I would opt for [name]Eleanor[/name]. I think it’d be less of a hassle for her, and I think [name]Lilla[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], and [name]Eleanor[/name] are adorable for sisters!
Good luck!
