I prefer Emily, just more my style. I know Eleanor has become very popular lately but to me…it’s just not my taste for a first name. To me Emily is just as classic but less old lady vibes. And, no offense to old ladies!

I’m a big fan of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! It’s both romantic, soft whimsical cottagecore and a strong elegant royal name (so many queens named [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] in the past). [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname options too. I think I especially like it, because I know a girl named [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and she’s absolutely gorgeous (think princess [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] in real life). [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is sweet and warm, but it feels more casual to me. I prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]

Both are beautiful! [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is my pick for a middle name, but I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for a first name.

definitely eleanor! i prefer the sound + vibe, plus i’ve known so many emilys that i find the name boring

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

This is tricky. How about some pros and cons!

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] pros:

-bold yet feminine

-classic

-cute nns (I love [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]! Also Ellie)

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] cons:

-so darn over done

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] pros:

-bubbly yet cozy

-classic

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] cons:

-Emmy isn’t nearly as lovable as Nellie/Ellie in my opinion

-Emily itself isn’t as over done as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], but [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is…which makes a lot of [name_f]Em[/name_f] girls running around

In conclusion, I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. You can’t go wrong with one though. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Emily[/name_f]! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] just isn’t my style. But you can’t go wrong with either.

Both are lovely

But I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] she’s graceful, elegant, strong, has tons of great historical references, tons of fabulous nicknames and I just gravitate to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] more.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] I like the understated elegance of it!

Eleanor - smart, sounds complete, works better for all ages. Having said that, I do find Emily to be a pretty and more cheerful name; Eleanor has something aloof and a tad huffy about it (as a name).

I also think it comes down to nicknames you prefer, unless you can insist on the full names being used - I personally don’t like Ellie at all, so I would use Nora or Nel or if it’s the UK pronunciation of Eleanor (which I love), maybe Lenny/Leni. For Emily, Em, Emmy or Millie.

Emilia feels like a good third option combining elements of both.

Emily!!! :green_heart:

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. It sounds a little more full/strong if that makes any sense.

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] feels a little less substantial and is starting to feel dated to me.

I have an [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (she’s 9) and she loves her name. I take that as a compliment that we named her well. It’s one of my long-time favourites because I find it sweet on a little girl, but I think it grows up well too. [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is always the full [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], no nicknames, but I do especially like [name_f]Nell[/name_f], and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a good option too (Ellie is, too, of course, but it’s a lot more common since it can be a nickname for any of the [name_f]El[/name_f]- names).

I like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] too though. It does read a touch more dated now, since it was massively popular starting in the 1990s. But I like that it has history, and it’s a happy, friendly name.

Definitely [name_f]Emily[/name_f]! She sounds so much more sweet and youthful! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] has a really unappealing, matronly sound imo, and I don’t like the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
