Eleanor or Nora

hello berries!

I’m caught between these two lovely names, knowing i can only use one of them. would you go with the longer eleanor, or the shorter Nora?

eleanor was my husband’s late grandmother’s name.

last name would be graham <3

[name_f]Nora[/name_f]! She’s so lovely and underused, and sounds like a book character with your last name! I love it.

I prefer the short and sweet [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. You could always use [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but if that’s what she’d go by all the time anyway I’d just stick with the wonderful [name_f]Nora[/name_f]!

Personally [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is my favorite! I also think it’s the best of both worlds, because if you decide later you’d rather call her [name_f]Nora[/name_f], you still can!

i think that is where i get stuck! if we name her eleanor, i imagine we’d just stick to the full name. but nora has a fun spunk to it as well <3

The lovely thing about this dilemma is that you can use both! [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a perfectly natural nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] such a lovely, elegant name and gives you the choice of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] if you want!!

I may be biased but [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] is a beautiful name! :two_hearts: she sounds so sophisticated, elegant and refined. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is sweet but doesn’t have the same gravitas that comes with a fuller name!

I personally prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] because it offers so many nicknames, and I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] sounds so lovely! :sparkling_heart:

DEFINITELY Eleanor!! It’s incredibly elegant, stylish, and charming. I know so many Nora’s recently born that it seems a bit drab. Personally, I would use [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] to honor grandmother. Family would likely not make the connection that [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is honoring [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Overall, I just love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but both are lovely :heartpulse:

[name_f]Nora[/name_f]! But I do like the idea of the direct honor of his grandma.

She is in the top 30 in the US, so definitely getting some use!

Oh wow, didn’t know that! I don’t live in the States so it’s sometimes hard to gauge how popular a name is without looking at the stats

In this situation I’d definitely go with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] “Nora” to get the best of both worlds, but if I could only choose one? I’d probably choose [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], myself, just to give her more nickname options as she gets older. Both are very good options though!
