It’s no secret I really love girl names! However I realised that I never seem to give the same attention to my boys names. So I finally sat down and figured them out. I realise my style is not for everyone however I would absolutely love some positive thoughts and vibes on my top 12 from you berries
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was that so many of these feel so cozy. [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], and [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m] to me are especially warm and welcoming.
Your entire list is timeless but offers so many options for unique nicknames (E.g. [name_f]Wren[/name_f] for [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m] , or [name_m]Kip[/name_m] for Christopher!).
I also really enjoy the grounded, laid-back and familiar vibe these names have.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], these are some great classics!
Particularly excited to see [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], and [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m], which are on my own list. [name_m]Jamie[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] are so cuddly as well! I also like the timelessness of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Michael[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], and [name_m]John[/name_m] (all except [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] are actually names in my extended family). They all have great nickname options, too!
I’m enjoying [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m] on this list! Solid classics & some woefully underused now.
They all give me a calm and dependable vibe.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites from your list and what I like about them:
[name_m]Jamie[/name_m] → friendly and playful, but perfectly grounded too - it’s got a bit of spark, a bit of gentleness
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] → classic and solid with a bold and distinctive sound. Plus cool nicknames like [name_m]Kit[/name_m], [name_m]Kester[/name_m], and [name_m]Kip[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] → gentle but solid, a quietly confident name
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m] → a distinctive sound, breezy and outdoorsy, but smart too
[name_m]Lawrence[/name_m] → elegant, regal and literary. Plus nicknames [name_m]Laurie[/name_m], [name_f]Wren[/name_f], [name_m]Law[/name_m] and [name_m]Lars[/name_m]
The overall vibes:
Solid classics with bookish vibes, strong but friendly, approachable with a hint of charm and quiet confidence
I truly love the mostly timeless style you have represented here! I think so many of these deserve more love. They tend to get passed over because of their continual usage–but I LOVE it when a name has history!
Aww this feels like a character list from Downton for me.
I especially love [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], it’s got a very special place in my heart and it always makes me smile to see it, familiar though it is. I also am rather fond of [name_m]John[/name_m] (especially for the nn Jack!), [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m], and [name_m]Hugh[/name_m].
The nice thing about classics like these is they have so many incredible nicknames. A [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] could be a [name_m]Greg[/name_m], or a [name_m]Grey[/name_m], or a [name_m]Rory[/name_m], or a [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]! It leaves so much room for personality.
I like your list! It’s full of strong, solid, can’t-go-wrong names.
The only one that seems a little out of place is [name_m]Jamie[/name_m], just because I’d expect to see the full [name_m]James[/name_m] on your list (but to be honest, I actually like [name_m]Jamie[/name_m] a lot more than [name_m]James[/name_m]! It’s such a cute and friendly name for a boy).
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] and [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m], because they fit into the mould of the others (classic and timeless) but they’re a little less common and have that little bit more spark.
I’m also a big fan of [name_m]Michael[/name_m] (it’s a family name for me; I’m always a bit sad I never got to use it as a middle name, although one of my siblings did).
I also enjoy seeing [name_m]John[/name_m] on your list! The ultimate classic name, but actually not used that much nowadays.
Matthew ~ handsome biblical name with the lovely meaning ‘gift of G-d’ he’s reliable, sturdy and soft.
Robert ~ family name for me with a midcentury nostalgic flair. I like the nickname Robbie as well.
Joseph ~ sweet, soft, handsome biblical name with great bible history.
David ~ I actually think David is so underrated he’s such a dependable biblical choice that feels well rounded and solid.
Jamie ~ I do prefer James with the nickname Jamie but still I think Jamie is sweet, friendly and cheerful.
Christopher ~ this name is very special for me. But moving away from how special Christopher is I genuinely love the sound of this choice. Christopher is handsome biblical name and I like the nickname Kit.
Michael ~ soft, wholesome biblical choice that has this laid back friendly feel. He’s a family name for me so holds a soft spot.
Gregory ~ personally feels a bit too stodgy for me but I can see the appeal he feels outdoorsy with a rural vibe.
Daniel ~ such a lovely cuddly name that feels wholesome and cosy.
Hugh ~ smart, distinguished and very classic
John ~ my dad’s name I really love him he’s so dependable, cosy and reliable with a laid back flair.
