Electra

Is it too crazy? It’s a guilty pleasure and today I saw it written in the prettiest writing on a gorgeous red bicycle and it made me love it more.

[name]Do[/name] you think it’s a stretch to honor my mother in law? Her name is [name]Lucretia[/name] (The [name]Luc[/name]- part I take to mean “light” as in [name]Lucy[/name]) [name]Elaine[/name] (“light” or “bright, shining one”). [name]Electra[/name] means “shining bright; bright shining light”.

[name]Electra[/name] is quite unique and pretty! However, to honor your mother-in-law, I would be more inclined (having more of a penchant for traditional names) to give a daughter the middle name [name]Elaine[/name]. However, if you love [name]Electra[/name], I say - use it.

I recognize [name]Electra[/name] as a bonafide name because I knew a girl named [name]Electra[/name] in 4th grade. She was an extremely competitive girl who put her heart and soul into winning athletic games during P.E. I had been known to dodge out of the way when a ball was flying like a bullet towards me, so I was not her favorite classmate. One day, she told me she would beat me up after school if I made an out in kickball. Nonetheless, I kind of like the name and think it is a usable. It would definitely be fine as a middle name. I don’t know if your mother-in-law will feel honored by it, but it is nice how [name]Electra[/name] combines prominent sounds from both her first and middle names and has the same meaning.

[name]Electra[/name] is definitely a guilty pleasure name for me. I really like the way it sounds and the meaning behind it. It might just be a little too out there for a first name, but you’re not crazy for wanting to use it. Although you could always give her the nn [name]Ellie[/name] if some people think it’s too strange. I think it’d go great as a middle name, too.

But if you want to use it, than do it, by all means. It obviously means something to you and is honoring your mother, so I don’t think it’s too crazy.

I like [name]Electra[/name], especially the 2005 movie [name]Elektra[/name]. I also love actress [name]Carmen[/name] [name]Electra[/name], so it’s a nice name for me. However, I find it a hard name to actually use as the first. In the middle it would be cool and exotic though. Other names you might like are [name]Elettra[/name] and [name]Electa[/name].
