3rd daughter is due soon and we are STRUGGLING with a name.
The only name we both really like is [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (nickname [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and Lulu). Our other daughters are [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] (Ella) and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (Addie).
Is [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] too similar to [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] even if the nicknames (Izzy and Ella) feel very different?
We also are throwing around [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Evalena[/name_f], Rosalena, [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. But none seem to feel right.
Although they both start the same, I think the rest of the names feel different enough that I don’t really think of them as “matchy”. The nicknames [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] also help to make them feel rather different to one another, and so I think it’s fine.
I think it’s too close. What about [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]? Maybe another [name_u]French[/name_u] name like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] fits nicely.
I definitely think they’re too close, and I’m also not really getting where you get the nickname [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] from for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] so I think you run the risk of them both going by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], etc and basically having two kids with the same name.
They’re a bit too close for me but I think it could work with the different nicknames. [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] came to mind
I don’t think they’re close enough for you not to use [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. Both names have different vibes (if that makes sense) and I don’t think it would be confusing when put into practice, especially with the different nicknames.
Personally I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] & [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] are a bit to close for sisters also both names naturally gravitate towards nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and it’s very hard to actually enforce the Ellie/Izzy nickname. Most nicknames are chosen by peers for example I do get [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] (I’m Victoria) despite repeatedly saying I hate [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] it’s just difficult to stop people not using the most natural nickname. Also with [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] I’m not sure how you get this nickname? I also think the [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] nickname will not come naturally to most people so most likely won’t be used automatically so will be a bit jarring. So in conclusion personally I think it’s too close. I like the suggestions of [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_u]Louise[/name_u] they are similar in sound but are not too close with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f].
Maybe another [name_u]French[/name_u] name as others have said I love the suggestions of @fearlessfirefly
and think [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] & [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] work perfectly in your sibling set. You’ve mentioned [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] I think that name is stunning with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
Suggestion [name_f]Colette[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] & [name_f]Colette[/name_f] sound gorgeous!
Thanks all!
I do feel like [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] is a stretch. But I also feel like lots of nicknames we now know and accept are a stretch (Margaret- Peggy). [name_f]My[/name_f] oldest [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] goes almost exclusively by [name_f]Ella[/name_f] which makes more sense than [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] but I think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is more natural? I’m hoping we could make [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] stick but still am concerned so appreciate the responses.
