Elijah

I can’t believe I’m posting this, lol, as much flack as I’ve given it, but I have really fallen for it! It’s soft and sensitive and smart, and I’ve always loved the stories of the prophet [name]Elijah[/name] in the Bible. I think he’d be a great namesake, and I think [name]Elijah[/name] would fit in really well with [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Asher[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Gray[/name], etc.

My only problem is the popularity–would you still use it, knowing how popular it is? Popularity usually doesn’t bother me, but I know more Elijahs/Alijahs/[name]Elis[/name] than I know of any other name out there. I have met at least 20, probably closer to 25 by now, and there are several in my church and that are children of friends. I think it could easily be top 10 next year, which I would like to avoid, if at all possible. Is it better as a MN? What would you pair it with? Right now I like [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Caleb[/name], but [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Caleb[/name] is obviously not usable and I’m not sure how much I like [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Henry[/name]…

I do like [name]Elijah[/name] and [name]Eli[/name] even with their popularity on the SSA list BUT personally if I knew that many it would be out. If I know more than a few of a name I tend to get turned off by it but just depends on where you are. I am really drawn to [name]Henry[/name] lately so I think [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Henry[/name] is a really nice combo but I think [name]Henry[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] would be great too and given the circumstances would lean toward that combo.

lol, usually the popularity on the charts has no affect on me, I would easily use [name]Daniel[/name] or [name]Joshua[/name] or [name]Olivia[/name] as a FN if that’s what it came down to, but twenty two Elijahs… ugh. I don’t even remember where I met them all, and I definitely wouldn’t see them on a day-to-day basis (or even week-to-week). If I had an [name]Elijah[/name], at this point, he would probably come across the one [name]Alijah[/name] that fairly consistently attends my church. And I have a friend from high school on Facebook who has an [name]Alijah[/name], too, but we really don’t talk all that much and both of those Alijahs are much older than mine would be (one by about 3-4 years; one by nearly 10 years). So that makes [name]Elijah[/name] more usable, imo, but the fact that I have come across so many does bother me some, at least.

That, and I really dislike [name]Eli[/name]. If I used [name]Elijah[/name], would [name]Eli[/name] be avoidable?

Oh my gosh…you’ve totally tapped into my brain.

I’m the same. I was never a fan of [name]Elijah[/name] until working with one in the Daycare. He’s a naughty child, but he’s so cute and he’s become SO well-behaved lately, and hearing his name so much made me fall for it. I actually started thinking of it because I was looking for a longer form for my [name]Eli[/name] [name]Henry[/name] combo.

Weird, huh?

I like [name]Elijah[/name], and I think it’s common for a good reason. Considering that it’s number 13, it likely will be top 10 next year.
Also, if you dislike [name]Eli[/name], it’s 100% avoidable with [name]Elijah[/name]. I’ve never known and [name]Elijah[/name] that was ever called [name]Eli[/name].
