Elin Aurora?

I love the name [name]Aurora[/name] (as a nod to the Northern Lights, not to the Disney princess), but sadly my tongue does not. lol. I just can’t say it half the time! So if I want to use it for my future daughter, it may have to go in the pronounced-less-often middle spot

Does it flow well with first name [name]Elin[/name] (EEE-lynn)?

I like [name]Elin[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name] but [name]Aurora[/name] is my great aunt’s name so i’m bias. In English the name does have a continuous R sound so it might be a little difficult for people to pronounce but if you’re only planning on calling her by her first name then it might not be a problem.

It flows, but I pronounce [name]Elin[/name] like [name]Ellen[/name]. EE-lin drives me crazy. I blame it on news casters who didn’t know how to pronounce [name]Tiger[/name] [name]Wood[/name]'s ex-wife’s name. That said, I think [name]Aurora[/name] is easy to pronounce even as a first name. It is lovely, the entire combo.

Very pretty! I don’t have a problem with [name]Aurora[/name] at all! It’s a very beautiful name.
I would only pronounce [name]Elin[/name] as Ay lyn…Anyway that is how we pronounce this name in [name]Holland[/name]

If you can’t say [name]Aurora[/name] then why still use it? Why bother trying to find a name that fits with it instead of starting from scratch

[name]Aurora[/name] is one of my favorite names. I knew an adorable 1yr old named [name]Aurora[/name], I loved the way she said “ah-whoa-wa”

Instead of [name]Elin[/name], which I think would be often mispronounced, you could use [name]Erin[/name], which is quite similar? Or [name]Ellen[/name]. I think they flow better with [name]Aurora[/name] (which I love…definitely one of my faves!)

I normally don’t like [name]Aurora[/name] at all but this combo is GORGEOUS!

Thanks, everyone! Yeah I never know how to pronounce [name]Elin[/name], it seems that most of the pronunciations I’ve found online vary quite a bit, ha ha. I did like the pronunciation of EE-lin but if it’s considered an incorrect pronunciation I might have to find another option. I actually love the Icelandic pronunciation (eh-LEEN, with an acute accent over the “i”) but I don’t think it would fly in [name]America[/name] (it could be too easily confused with [name]Eileen[/name], too, which I don’t find as appealing).

Its hard to describe the Swedish pronunciation. The E is a long E sound, and I can see how people can confuse that particular sound with EE but it is more akin to the English E in [name]Ellen[/name]. Here is an audio file Pronunciations for Elin in Swedish (from Elin Nordegren to Elin Ersson)

In Norwegian its pronounced like [name]Ellen[/name]. I hope that helps.

[name]Hi[/name], my name is [name]El[/name]ín, however it is NOT pronounced as ee-lynn. This is a common mistake that many Americans make because this name is supposed to be spelled with an accent mark over the /í/ to make the long e sound NOT ee-lynn. Doesn’t that sound so much prettier? I love my name!

Pronunciation of [name]El[/name]ín: [eh-leen] /E/ has a short sound vowel (as in ‘bed’). /lín/ has a long sound vowel (as in ‘me’ or ‘bee’).

[name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Elin[/name]. Would pronounce it like [name]Ellen[/name].
