[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f]… what do you like best, and why? What person comes to mind when you hear each of these names? What associations, if any, do you have with them? I left [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] off this list for a reason.
I love [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f]. I’m attracted to the letter ‘e’, so [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] appeals to me aesthetically.
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] seems stiff, straight, a bit too proper and a little cold.
[name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] is warm, strong, sunny.
Honestly, neither. I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but personally not a fan of the spellings of [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f]. I’m sorry.
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is beautiful, sleek, and sophisticated. I love it!
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] would be my choice, it’s crisp and clean.
The ending of [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] reminds me too much of the word “snore”.
I prefer [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite variant of this name is [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f] and since [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] is more similar to that than [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is I prefer the [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] version.
(I love [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f] because it is the only name that is somehow pompous and unassuming at the same time. The pompous side is just grandiose enough that it’s rather playful and nn [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] give it a great down to earth feel. It’s not in my signature but it is on my extended list of name I expect to suggest to my FH when we are pregnant).
I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but from these two choices I would go with [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]. It makes me think of the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] character [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] Dashwood in “Sense & Sensibility”. Since [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] is the [name_m]German[/name_m] version of the name, I would pronounce the last syllable with an “ah” sound ([name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]).
Personally, I don’t like either. If you can’t use classic [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (which is beautiful), I’d suggest [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], which at least wouldn’t get misspelled as often, and looks better than either [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] a lot more than [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]. It just looks more complete, and [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] reminds me more of [name_f]Lenor[/name_f] for some reason. I feel as if [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] suits a little girl and it would ‘grow’ with her. [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], to me, seems a bit proud and spoilt; I have no idea why.
It has always looked to me like [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is just spelled wrong, like someone didn’t know how to spell the name and just guessed. I definitely prefer [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] if you have to deviate from the classic
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] …*it’s the most established spelling, thanks to [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]. [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] sounds like an unnecessary smush of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleonore[/name_f] (which is also quite pretty).
[name_f]Eleanore[/name_f]. [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] seems incomplete to me. I don’t know any, but I picture [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] more spunky, outgoing and [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] sweet, shy and introverted.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is by far my favorite, but out of the two I prefer [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f].
