Elinor

[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] has been a favorite since I was a teenager. I’ve usually liked it better than [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], but I don’t mind [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

Does [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] look misspelled to you? Would you spell it [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], to make things easier for her, even though I don’t like it as much?

Does it matter whether it’s a first or middle name?

Thoughts on [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]? [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] for sisters? And [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] Something, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] Something [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. Help me out

I think most who come across it would think it just a type of [name_f]Elanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], honestly. I think it’s better in the mn position, at least with this spelling.

I love [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], and I definitely don’t think it looks misspelled! It’s strong and sleek. I adore this name whether it’s [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], Ellanore, [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f], [name_f]Elanor[/name_f] …anything! Always full of kick and might and pleasance.

It does look misspelled, and in my opinion that spelling loses the classic, old fashioned charm of the [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] sounds and reads like Ella-nor, but [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] makes me think Ellen-or, for some reason. I don’t think it would matter that much how you spelled it, but that spelling just isn’t as nice in my opinion. I’d be interested to know why that spelling is more appealing to you, I always find it so strange how one letter difference can change peoples’ opinions about a name, I feel like this myself about spellings, but it’s so odd.

i love elinor! definitely doesn’t look misspelled; if it was a first name, you might have to correct people at first, but they would get it quickly! i think it would work great. ditto what @/snowmaiden said, i love this name in any spelling!

I was worried about that, but also a bit surprised because it’s a prominent character in a [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] novel.

It’s a spelling [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] used and I think it looks beautiful and elegant. It’s a name I associate with classic literature.

It also works better in many non-English speaking countries and I travel a lot.

I think [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is fine as alternate spelling! Not a fan of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as sisters though. Too matchy

It doesn’t look mispelled and I like [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] equally, but since [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is significantly more common I would go with that spelling for a first name to make life easier. As a middle it doesn’t matter, middles come up infrequently and instances where people have to guess how to spell your middle are even less common so for a middle I’d go with whatever spelling you wanted.

Totally skipped the last couple questions, oops!
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is lovely and I also really like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is fine but I don’t love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] with [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], they feel too matchy together in different ways.

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and honestly, hardly anyone spells her name right. It’s a little bit infuriating because it’s the most common spelling, but I think the -ea- trips people up. (Not to mention the pronunciation - as many people say Ellen-uh as Ellen-or).

So I wouldn’t worry about the spelling issue - if anything, [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is going to be easier for people to remember.

I obviously think it’s a great name and I like the [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] spelling for the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] connection.

[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] seems well established enough to me that it works.

[name_f]Elinor[/name_f] for a middle wouldn’t cause confusion, though as a first, she might have to spell it out sometimes.

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is lovely!

It works with [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]! [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] would be my suggestion - something with the international vibe of [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]

I actually prefer [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellinor[/name_f] to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] to [name_f]Ellinor[/name_f].

I think that [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] is more intuitive to pronounce in my country than [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would get a eh-leh-ah-nor here, not an eh-leh-nor.

I like [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] or [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] for you.

I like [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] just as much-if not more-then [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! It reminds me of [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] from Sense and Sensibility!

I don’t think it looks misspelt, and it is my favourite spelling of the name (possibly the only one that I like). I like how [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] looks on paper but the ‘l’ sounds clash. The rest are great as sibling names!

It doesn’t look misspelled to me! There are a lot of different and well- loved spellings for this gorgeous classic. If I were you, I’d use your favourite spelling for sure and I like it both as a first and as a middle.
I love-love [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and the sibset of [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is very floral (some might say it’s too floral), but I like it! It’s like a little flower bouquet.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is super magical, a million times love!!!

Hmm… I’m thinking

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Yvette[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Estee[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]

Your combo is my absolute favourite!

I think the [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] spelling looks really nice! It can work well as a first or middle name.

For sisters I’d pick [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] & [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_u]Rose[/name_u]

I like both spellings equally. There was a girl who sailed on the [name_f]Mayflower[/name_f] named [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], so it’s an old spelling. I like vintage names.
