Elise?

I really like the name [name]Elise[/name]. It is my mother’s middle name. Would this name sound ok with the last name [name]Spence[/name]?

I think [name]Elise[/name] is a very pretty name, but it is a bit hard to say with [name]Spence[/name] because of the back-to-back S sound.

I know a girl called [name]Elisa[/name] ([name]EL[/name]-EE-SA) [name]Spence[/name] so I think it goes great because I hear something similar a lot

I think it’s very classic, almost like [name]Claire[/name]. It’s graceful. I find it a little plain, but I think that’s part of its appeal- the simplicity. Seems it gets assigned as a middle name pretty often, because it’s so crisp that it can really clean up those longer, more flowery names. I don’t think it has ideal flow with [name]Spence[/name], but that’s ok if you love it for the connection to your mother. [name]Eliza[/name] or [name]Elisa[/name] would run together less, but neither of those are as elemental, French, sharp.

It’s too hissy for my taste. [name]Eliza[/name] would be lovely instead.

We also like [name]Elaine[/name] with the nicknames [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Laine[/name].

[name]Elaine[/name] Spen¢e is so ladylike and pretty. It reminds me of “[name]Grace[/name] [name]Farrell[/name]” the [name]Anne[/name] Reinking character in [name]Annie[/name].

Too many sibilant S’s running into each other. [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Spence[/name] would work quite well; [name]Elaine[/name] would be even better!

Oh, I really like [name]Elise[/name] so much! I agree the it does run in with [name]Spence[/name] but [name]Elaine[/name] lacks so much of the beauty and elegance that [name]Elise[/name] has (at least in my opinion). Maybe making [name]Elise[/name] a double barrel would work? [name]Elise[/name]-[name]May[/name], [name]Elise[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name], [name]Elise[/name]-[name]Claire[/name]…any of these work for you?

I like it. I agree with the other posters who mentioned that the “s” sounds run together which make the two names hard to say together, but I don’t think it’s a big enough issue that it’s unusable. [name]Just[/name] something to keep in mind.

I agree. [name]Elise[/name] is much fresher and more elegant and beautiful name that [name]Elaine[/name] (imo), s sound which clasher is not a big deal (really, some rules are sometimes overdone) and besides, don’t fear diversity. [name]Elaine[/name], which is more classier name than [name]Elise[/name], is also a bit dated, overdone and (imo) ugly. [name]Elise[/name] is not bad name either.

I love [name]Elise[/name] and definitely it over [name]Elaine[/name], but the s’s are a tad much. What about [name]Elysia[/name] or [name]Eliska[/name] instead?

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Elise[/name], but I agree with PPs that it gets lost in the shuffle with your last name.
[name]Elaine[/name] is okay…I think it really needs a nickname. My DH and I have friends with a baby named [name]Elaine[/name] and they do not use a nickname. Whenever they write about her on facebook, I wonder why they are talking about an old lady pooping…
