Elisha Gideon vs Bronson Royce vs Elisha Bronson

Which of the three do you prefer

My husband and I have three combos we love:

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
([name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is pr. ee-lye-sha. It’s a biblical boys name. We love [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] for it’s strong, classic and handsome sound/meaning)

[name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_u]Royce[/name_u]
([name_m]Bronson[/name_m] is a name that has been used in both families for centuries. [name_u]Royce[/name_u] is a name we like because it’s a name that has been around for a while, but isn’t as common as other names from that era and sounds fun and spunky as well)

Or

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]
(my sister actually suggested this, and it has been growing on us ever since)

My husband like [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_u]Royce[/name_u] better, but I prefer [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] and my oldest son likes [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] best.

Which one do you prefer and why?

We’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t refer to [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] as a girls name and won’t say [name_u]Royce[/name_u] is unusable because of the car.

Extra question:
Which of the three do you prefer in a sibset with [name_m]Julius[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] [name_m]Jared[/name_m]?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] curious, not expecting.

I like [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] the best

[name_m]Bronson[/name_m] has a little too much macho swagger for my comfort level to be a first name and [name_u]Royce[/name_u] just adds to it. It’ goes overboard with the masculinity compared to [name_m]Julius[/name_m] and [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]. Also, [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] and [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] are a bit matchy with the shared “n” ending.

1 [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
2 [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]
3 [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_u]Royce[/name_u]

I love [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], but I’m a bit of a Biblical name buff  [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] would be my #2, and it seems like it would be a good compromise for the two of you.

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] is my favorite overall, but I also like [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m].

You might not want people to say [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is a girl’s name, but most people are going to think that.

I prefer [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_u]Royce[/name_u]. (I’m trying to talk my hubby into agreeing to [name_u]Royce[/name_u], so maybe I am biased). I know two [name_u]Elisha[/name_u]'s. One is in his 30s, the other is an infant. It’s a nice name too. I think it works best with [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]. Good luck!

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], no question.

A vote for [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]! It is my brother’s name and he is the only one I’ve ever met. I think it’s handsome and strong and I think he’s always liked his name.

Exactly this! Most people will pronounce it ee-lee-sha, not ee-lye-sha, and assume it’s a girl. I also dislike [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] and [name_u]Royce[/name_u], so my choice would be to switch [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] around - [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Elisha[/name_u]. You could still call him [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] if you wanted to, but then he would have a choice of going by [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] should he experience any teasing.

I know an [name_u]Elisha[/name_u], pronounced the same way, that is a girl, but she says that most people tell her ‘that’s a boy’s name.’ [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] is my pick.

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] is my pick!

[name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_u]Royce[/name_u]

[name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_u]Royce[/name_u] is very macho, tough guy, it makes me think of an action movie or an action figure. [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] has a nicer, softer sound. I know you don’t want people to refer to [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] as a female name, and I won’t do that, but I must point out that it is commonly used as a female name, and so much softer sounding than [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]. 2 very different names. I like [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] better in the middle with [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] and I like [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] better than [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]. Though I do think that the name [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_u]Royce[/name_u] sounds more at home and obviously male in 2013 which makes it easier to wear.

[name_m]Bronson[/name_m] reminds me of a dinosaur.

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] is superb. [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is a perfectly fantastic masculine name. If people want to call girls [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], which is not even a girls’ name, I can’t imagine why there’d be an issue with [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] (an actual boys’ name) on…a boy.

Not all boys’ names have to be ‘[name_m]Ridge[/name_m] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m] [name_m]Remington[/name_m] [name_u]Steele[/name_u]’-type action-hero names. It’s lovely to hear something softer on a boy, and I actually find it more masculine than the hyper-tough names.

I don’t think [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is a girl’s name. I would have, however, pronounced it with the “lee” rather than “lie” sound - it’s “lee” in the Hebrew, and Hebrew speakers are the only ones I knew using it on boys, so I thought it was “lee.” I didn’t know that it had a particular accepted English pronunciation as it’s pretty rarely used in English?

I like [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] or [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m].

For that matter I also love [name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] and [name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]. (ee-lye) and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Elisha[/name_u].

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is a favorite so I’m going for [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m].

Ignore the ‘it’s a girl name’ people. Anything that isn’t Killer McTesticles is called feminine nowadays. [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is not commonly used for girls

I sort of agree with this. I personally think [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] as some other pp have said is a little macho next to your boys’ names. I now it’s not one of your first name choices but I think [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] would go wonderfully with [name_m]Julius[/name_m] and [name_m]Franklin[/name_m].

Far and away [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]. Strong and striking.

[name_u]Elisha[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] is stunning, I love it.
