Elisha?

What are you thoughts on this name? I love [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] but it’s too popular for me. Would this name be confused for [name_f]Alicia[/name_f]?

I like [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] - it feels soft but not overly so.
I do think it might be be confused with [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] but on seeing it, they have different feels

I really like [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] - so soft and gentle, but also very strong. I think, yes, in writing, that this name could well be mistaken as a variation on [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], and assumed female, however, I really don’t think that’s such a big deal myself - a quick correction is usually all it takes.

I know several girls called [name_u]Elisha[/name_u], so it’s definitely a feminine name to me. It’s on par with naming your son [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]

Weird. This name is unisex but in my experience typically masculine.

I agree. I think it’s too similar to [name_f]Alisha[/name_f] to be used on a boy.

I wonder if the last two posters have seen it on girls pronounced like [name_f]Alicia[/name_f]. I would assume the name was feminine and pronounced like [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] if I saw it on paper but that says more about the people of [name_u]America[/name_u] than it does about the name itself. [name_m]Said[/name_m] correctly, I think it’s nice on a boy. I tend to like softer names for boys though. [name_u]Elias[/name_u] comes to mind as another alternative for [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] that’s more obviously masculine.

Any more opinions?

I think [name_u]Elisha[/name_u] is lovely. In my accent, it’s pronounced slightly differently than [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], much more like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]. It is soft (nothing wrong with that), I think that with all the Elijahs it could work. I would consider it brave but not unusable.
