I think it would depend on the last name for me. I actually really like both! I prefer [name]June[/name] to [name]Ruth[/name], but [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] is really spunky.
Go with whatever you like better. If your family likes [name]Ruth[/name] so much, then one of them can use it! [name]Don[/name]'t get bullied into choosing a name (my [name]SIL[/name] did by her family).
And waffle away, its your baby. If you don’t love [name]Eliza[/name], its just the best so far, then keep looking!
[name]Both[/name] are pretty names! I am an [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruth[/name], and I adore my name so I would recommend [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]. That said, pick the name you prefer, not what your family wants, as a previous poster stated. And don’t settle for a name you don’t love - you will be saying this name for the rest of your life, so make sure its special!
Oh wow, it’s been 50-50 all day. I’m fighting baby name fatigue today for sure. Twice I had to stop myself from just telling my husband to name her whatever he wants.
I really, really love [name]Eliza[/name] [name]June[/name]. I think it’s beautiful and sweet and charming and unexpected. That being said, so is [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name], and I generally can’t stand [name]Ruth[/name] (even though it’s a family name for me, too). I’ve often opted for [name]Rue[/name]/[name]Ruby[/name] (even [name]Lily[/name], which has symbolic meaning) to avoid having to get to [name]Ruth[/name]. But [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] is a very sweet pairing and it’ll age really well. I would love to meet a little girl with either name, and find myself torn, as well, especially with the family connection to [name]Ruth[/name]. I like [name]Eliza[/name] [name]June[/name] more, I think, but I tend to feel a family obligation, as well. Not that I would have to honor family–it’s just something I want to do, so by default I’d probably pick [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]. If your family hadn’t suggested [name]Ruth[/name], either at all, or with frequency… do you think you would have even thought to consider [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]? Would you have wanted to? If not, I think you’re fine just going with [name]Eliza[/name] [name]June[/name] (especially if a special family member has/had a [name]June[/name] birthday!). Not all people honor, and it’s not like you have to. That being said, after typing [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] out so much I’ve really come to like it! I still like [name]Eliza[/name] [name]June[/name], but I do really love both. Och, I’m no help. haha.
Good luck!
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]. Classic, can’t go wrong, easy to say, feminine, and generally lovely.
Lol thanks for the reply! It’s pretty much what I’ve been thinking all day. I do like [name]Ruth[/name] (I already used [name]Ruby[/name] on my dog) and I love [name]June[/name]. They all have the same sound to me that is appealing. I guess without the family connection I would go with [name]June[/name]. But the family thing makes them about even to me.
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]June[/name] is beautiful.
I voted for [name]Eliza[/name] [name]June[/name], but they are both pretty. I think [name]Eliza[/name] sounds more graceful with [name]June[/name], and it’s such a feminine name (which I love), but if she’s a tomboy, she can go by EJ as a teen if she likes.
I also agree with the above posters–name the baby what you and dh want. Picking a name out of a sense of duty will not help anybody, least of all your daughter. I’m 25 and I’m still thankful my mom named me what she liked and not what my dad’s family pressured her to name me. She had a better idea than anyone of who I was was and what my name should be. [name]Trust[/name] your judgment. ([name]Just[/name] my two cents!)
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]June[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] are lovely choices but if you aren’t feeling as excited as you hoped about the name, maybe it would help to wait before committing to one. Otherwise, it might be harder for you to change your mind if you get the warmfuzzies about another name. -especially if your enthusiastic family presents you with a pile of monogrammed baby things.
It looks like everyone has gone for [name]June[/name], however, I think [name]June[/name] is much too gentle for the spunky [name]Eliza[/name] and having had a spunky grandmother named [name]Ruth[/name] I think that [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] is perfect.
PS I think that your relatives are super imposing, they have no right at all to pressure you like this, you may go for [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name] by the time the baby arrives, they should leave you alone.
