I have made posts in the past about how I love the name Elsie, but wasn’t too fond of Elizabeth. I thought Eloise or even Estelle would be great full names for Elsie, but just didn’t think the were the ones, you know? Recently, I have really fallen out of love with Elsie, something that I thought would never happen. I’ve loved this name for years, but I’m sure it happens to everyone.
Long story short, I sprung the name by my boyfriend a few months ago, and all he can think of is the cow (insert face palm here). So anytime there is a cow on TV or we see one, he just repeats “Elsie.” Part of me is sad, and I think that’s a reason why I don’t fully love it anymore as a full name, because all I can associate it with are cows now.
But recently, I have been absolutely LOVING Elizabeth. I really just love how elegant, classic, and timeless it is, and has wonderful name sakes. Kids are a long way down the road for us, but I think this is perfect. Elizabeth nn Elsie just is absolutely adorable, and of course, there are an abundance of other nicknames (I love Betty too!) to go by if we don’t end up loving Elsie in the future.
I feel the exact same way about Elizabeth! I never thought much of it, but lately I’ve been loving it more and more. It’s such an elegant, timeless name, and there are so many adorable nicknames that go with it too. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is definitely a great fit!
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is absolutely stunning and has so many wonderful nickname options! It was my top choice for a long time (my husband vetoed) and still a favorite of mine. As others have said, it’s elegant and timeless and would be an amazing choice, especially with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] or [name_f]Betty[/name_f] as a nickname! I really like Elle/Ellie, Eliza, and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] too.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is really lovely, the nickname options really make it a super usable popular name even for people who care a lot about popularity. You can basically choose a new nickname every decade and none of them would be a stretch - I’m surprised it’s not more popular on here. [name_u]Truly[/name_u] a great name!
I have an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] too. There is a reason classic names are so popular. They are simply amazingly beautiful names. they will be around when all of today’s trendy names are all but forgotten. [name_m]Just[/name_m] look at the list of [name_m]Tudor[/name_m] names in the news category.
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] sounds like a cow to me, and I don’t know why. So does Bessie. Must have been in a TV show or game that I saw.
I love love love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as a name in general. That it allows for like 10+ different nicknames (all with such different vibes to fit whatever her personality ends up becoming) is an added bonus.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is such a perfect, timeless name. And there are so many nicknames that work for it, too, which is a definite plus! You certainly can never go wrong with a name as classic as Elizabeth.
I absolutely love the name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] it’s a name I considered using as a first name for my daughter but was put off by the nickname [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] (all I hear is lizards) which she would inevitably be called where I live. So instead [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] became my daughters first middle name so of course I absolutely love it! [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is elegant, demure, regal, biblical and timeless. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] has a range of sweet nicknames including your favourite [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and my favourite Libby. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a great choice and always feels refreshing. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandma name was [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and she was an amazing lady honestly I’ve never met a horrible Elizabeth! Essentially you canny go wrong with Elizabeth. Also I would love to team [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with something unexpected and boho in the middle name slot, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] for example would be so swoon worthy!
I love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] too! If you like the nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] or even Elspeth? I think [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is more fitting for [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] because of the s and also it’s less common. So many people I know are named [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] so I’ll say their nicknames:
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] (knew many MANY [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn Ellie’s but there was one [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] nn Ellie)
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] (several associations with Frozen the movie)
[name_f]Lizzie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lizzy[/name_f]
[name_f]Libby[/name_f]
[name_f]Liz[/name_f] (adult)
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] (grandma)
I love all of these nicknames except [name_f]Betty[/name_f] which is not ideal since it was the name you like. It just sounds like it’s a grandma I’m sorry. If you liked some other nicknames then I’ll also give some other names they could be short for
Ellie: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f], [name_u]Elisha[/name_u], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_u]Ellison[/name_u], or even [name_f]Elyssa[/name_f]
Lizzy: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lizbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Melissa[/name_f], [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], or [name_f]Elyssa[/name_f]
Libby: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] or Elibiana
I just realized after typing all this it may not even be what you were looking for or helpful in any way lol but I’ll put it up so maybe someone else needs it
I fully support this! [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is so beautiful, and has so many amazing nicknames (a la [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f], [name_f]Liz[/name_f], [name_f]Buffy[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], etc.)
