Elizabeth or Elisabeth?

Which spelling do you prefer? And are you pronouncing them the same way?

I much much much prefer the [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] spelling. I just find it to look softer and more cohesive (though that might just be me). I pronounce them the same way, so there’s no difference to me except for aesthetic preferences.

I’m a huge fan of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]! It feels softer than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] haha. I say them the same, unless I’m speaking in [name_u]French[/name_u] or [name_m]German[/name_m] (which hasn’t coincided with my use of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] yet lol).

i prefer elizabeth, it looks more complete, and i feel like a little elisabeth would have spelling problems.

I prefer [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. I pronounce [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with a z and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] with a s.

I prefer the spiky [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

I really like both! I agree that [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] feels and looks softer, but I think I slightly favour [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a family name for me, so I just can’t really imagine spelling it any other way, even though [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is fairly common as well.

I pronounce them almost the same way, except [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] has a SLIGHTLY softer ‘s’ sound than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I pronounce them both exactly the same but [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] looks prettier to me! I agree with everyone who said it looks & feels softer with the “s”.

We used [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] for our daughter’s middle name because she’s half [name_m]German[/name_m] and we live in [name_u]Germany[/name_u]. Without this connection I would probably tend towards the z spelling, especially in a first name because I love the short form [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]

Elisabeth! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I pronounce [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] with a softer s sound, so a bit differently than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with that sharp z.

Elizabeth is my middle name, so I guess that would be my preference

I prefer [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I love the way the z looks and the nn [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I would pronounce them a bit differently but it’s not all that noticable.

It’s so hard to choose which I prefer but I think maybe [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]! I pronounce them a little differently, [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] would be eh-lis-sah-beth and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would be eh-liz-zuh-beth

With a ‘s’ sounds softer but it’s perfectly fine with a ‘z’ too.

I like the spelling of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] slightly over [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] beats [name_f]Elisa[/name_f] for me!
