Which one do you prefer? I love [name]Eliza[/name] but worry that is sounds incomplete (I grew up with a nickname-y name and always wanted a more proper first name and don’t want my future daughter to feel that way). Also, our favorite boy name is [name]Theodore[/name] nicknamed either [name]Theo[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name] and would [name]Eliza[/name] look weird next to [name]Theodore[/name], or would [name]Elizabeth[/name] be better? Although [name]Elizabeth[/name] is so popular and worry that she’d end up going by [name]Liz[/name] or [name]Libby[/name] which I do not like.
[name]Eliza[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name], nicknamed [name]Eliza[/name]. What do you think?
I really love both! [name]Elizabeth[/name] is so traditional and gorgeous, it would be a wonderful name to grow up with, and the nn [name]Eliza[/name] is so pretty. I actually adore [name]Eliza[/name], though–I’ve grown up loving it and have only recently been put off of it because of its growth in popularity–but it just seems quirky, fun, girly, timeless, charming, and I definitely think it works on its own. It’s technically a variation of [name]Elizabeth[/name], I believe, not just a nn, so it’s just as legitimate as something like [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Elise[/name], [name]Lisette[/name], etc. which are all variations of [name]Elizabeth[/name] (or its original Hebrew form, [name]Elisheva[/name]).
With [name]Theodore[/name], I actually prefer [name]Eliza[/name]. [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] are perfect together! I think the quirky [name]Eliza[/name] makes [name]Theodore[/name] more dashing and quirky, whereas [name]Elizabeth[/name] feels a bit drab and heavy next to the quirky-yet-traditional [name]Theodore[/name].
I think [name]Eliza[/name] sounds like a solid, complete name in itself. I’m not a fan of giving a child a longer name that he or she won’t go by from day to day. [name]Just[/name] a personal thing. If I wanted an [name]Eliza[/name], I would absolutely name her [name]Eliza[/name] and not [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I think [name]Eliza[/name] has a history of standing alone as a name and therefore goes with [name]Theodore[/name] nicely.
I like just [name]Eliza[/name] but you could also go [name]Elizabelle[/name] or [name]Elizabella[/name] if you wanted [name]Belle[/name] or [name]Bella[/name] as a nn
I think [name]Eliza[/name] is fine on its own, as it is a name in itself, [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely, but it is very common I think [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] look great together!
I agree that [name]Eliza[/name] is a beautiful name in and of itself. Doesn’t sound like a nn to me at all. I love the [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] combo
