Which name do you prefer and why? We are leaning towards nick names [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and Ette. Thanks!
Both are gorgeous!
However I love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is strong, regal, elegant, incredibly timeless, has this impactful determination behind her, enduring, has biblical history with a lovely meaning connected to G-d and a range of fabulous nicknames. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my daughter’s middle name but I also toyed with having [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] in the first name slot but decided to follow Jewish customs. However if it wasn’t cultural expectations playing a part I think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would have felt like a natural choice. I truly love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is beyond adorable nickname.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]!
[name_f]Libby[/name_f] is our favorite nickname too! Thanks for the thoughtful reply.
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]! Sleek and elegant
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], especially with the nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f]!
I think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is prettier, and more classic. There are so many different nicknames for it, and it will always sound stylish despite how common it it.
Ok thank you!!
I love [name_f]Libby[/name_f] too!! Thank you
Both names are lovely.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is more timeless, has a great range of nicknames (Libby is one of the best! I love its energy) and although it’s a long name, most people will know how to spell it. It’s flexible and suits anyone.
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] is a bit more daring, but it still works beautifully. I love its [name_u]French[/name_u] style and pizzazz. It’s not as timeless as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but it works for all ages. It would be the more unexpected choice and I like that about it.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], not for any particular reason, I just like the sound of it a bit more.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is timeless, and [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is a great nickname.
elizabeth
it’s so timeless and classical! she’s so versatile and never has gone out of style. colette i’ve never liked, but that’s just because the “lette” sound has been offputting to me in most names, with violet being the only difference. my favorite nickname for elizabeth is bess, betsy, or bethy <3
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!
It’s such a wonderful classic.
I really like both of these names! Both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] have a elegant and regal vibes, and both age well imo. You can’t go wrong with either one.
But, for this instance, I’d go with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] bc of the nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f]
I love both of your names so much!!
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite name of all time. I’ve loved this name since I was a little girl. It sounds strong but sweet, and timeless and classic while still fitting in with many of the newer names. I see a person with this name as someone who is mature, responsible, and protects those she loves, but is still very sweet and always ready to have fun. I personally have never been a huge fan of any of the nicknames (I’d seriously just prefer Elizabeth), but [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] and [name_f]Libby[/name_f] are slowly growing on me. I actually think [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is an adorable name.
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] - [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is also a very beautiful name. It’s elegant and sleek while still feeling very modern and fresh. I also happen to love [name_u]French[/name_u] names, so how could I not like this one? I see a person with this name as someone who is sweet, graceful, and loving, but at the same time very energetic and loves being creative. I personally don’t think that this needs any nicknames, because it’s lovely and short on its own, but I do think that [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] would be very cute.
Final verdict - Although I really adore both, in the end I’m gonna go with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is the only name I’ve loved for more than five years, and the nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f] really freshens it up.
Wow, I really appreciate this thorough and thoughtful response. Our son’s first name is [name_m]Ford[/name_m], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_m]Ford[/name_m] / [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and [name_m]Ford[/name_m]. Thanks!
[name_f]Libby[/name_f] and [name_m]Ford[/name_m] together is just the cutest!!
I prefer [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. If you want the nickname Ette, I think that could work well for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] too. This way would get both nicknames.
