Elizabeth

Recently i’ve been debating the nane [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It’s just outside the top 10 but i never hear it on a baby or little girl. Are all [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]'s going by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], etc. now? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you hear it frequently, and what are they going by?

I really like the name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! It’s so beautiful and is a classic! I don’t know any Elizabeths under the age of 24, which is odd lol. Two go by [name_f]Liz[/name_f] and one goes by [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f]. I personally just like the full form and think that the nicknames diminish the greatness of the name (well, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are better than the tired old [name_f]Liz[/name_f] and [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f]).

I like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], it’s a versatile classic. I don’t hear it often, to be honest.

I’m not around young children much and don’t know any little Elizabeths, but pretty much every [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I’ve ever met has gone by some nickname or other, so if she were to use her full name it would be distinctive. I feel like she’d inevitably go by a nickname though, it’s one of the few names that I think will pretty much never be used in full simply because hardly anyone does. I’d love to meet an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] who was just [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] though!

I know many Elizabeths, mostly 20+. The youngest that I know of is I think 5 or 6, and she goes by her full name 100% of the time. It’s a beautiful classic, I wouldn’t worry about its popularity!

I only know one under the age of 10 and she goes by [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f].
I really love the name but I also love all the nicknames.

My 4 year old is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and I don’t know if any others in her nursery/ school etc and it is always commented on how lovely it is, also we insisted when born she is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (no nicknames) and it has always stick

My daughter is almost 20 months old and we have not yet met another little [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Whenever I hear a small girl with a nickname that could be a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], I ask what her full name is. I haven’t had a hit yet – it’s usually an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or an [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and she’s always been named something other than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], obviously, because it’s such a classic and has so many great nickname options. My favorites are [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], but [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f], and [name_f]Bess[/name_f] are cute, too. I think [name_f]Liz[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], and [name_f]Liza[/name_f] sound like they belong to a mom or grandma named [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]; they’re not as fresh to my ears.

I know an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] who is around 40 years old who goes only by her full given name, no nickname.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is the name that I really love. It is not so common.I named my girl [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]-in my country this names aren’t common at all. I love the name and it,s short variations -[name_f]Lizzie[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f],[name_f]Betty[/name_f],even [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].

Thanks ladies, it just surprises me that the names i hear most frequently for babies don’t seem to match the national charts.
