Does [name_f]Ella[/name_f] work as a nickname for [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]? I know that [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is pronounced elle-oh-dee, but when people say [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] it often sounds like ella-dee. There are a lot of nicknames where you take the first syllable of a name and add an a to it. My name is [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and people constantly think they can call me [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering if you berries think that [name_f]Ella[/name_f] works as a nn for [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]?

I think it works. Have you though of using [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a standalone name? [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] would go very well together.
It definitely works! I think any [name_f]El[/name_f]- nn ([name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], etc), can work for any [name_f]El[/name_f]- or -[name_f]Elle[/name_f] full name ([name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f])
Thanks for the feedback! My mom doesn’t like the name [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] because my dad once had a girlfriend named [name_f]Melody[/name_f]. We plan to call her [name_f]Elle[/name_f] some/most of the time but my mom doesn’t like that either, she says that’s a letter not a name. My mom has decided she will call her [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. I love the name [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and had considered using it standalone but it’s just too popular. So we plan to call her both [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and my mom will call her [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and who knows what [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] will call her (she’s only 14 months old now), poor [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] will be so confused! Guess we’ll just try them all out and see which name sticks and fits her best.
I think [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is a great nn for [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]! If [name_m]Bob[/name_m] can be a nn for [name_m]Robert[/name_m], or [name_m]Dick[/name_m] for [name_m]Richard[/name_m], then [name_f]Ella[/name_f] for [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] shouldn’t even be a question [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
