Ella, Claire, Katherine, or Kate for baby girl's name?

My husband only loves [name]Ella[/name] for our daughter’s name, but due to the popularity I hesitated although I love [name]Ella[/name] too. I don’t want my little girl to be 1 of 5 Ellas in her class. We already have a friend’s newly born girl called [name]Ella[/name]. (My name is [name]Elizabeth[/name] and I “suffer” from that in school enough already). I do want something classic and sophisticated though. Please help me with your opinions?

Definitely [name]Katherine[/name], with the nickname of [name]Kate[/name]! I also really love [name]Claire[/name].

Your daughter will not be one of five Ellas in her class. The most popular names are not as popular as they appear. Statistically there might only be five Ellas in an entire school. That said, I don’t like [name]Ella[/name]. It has no strength or “meat” in my opinion.

What about [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Ella[/name]?

I have a [name]Clare[/name] and a [name]Katharine[/name]. If you’re worried about popularity I’d pick [name]Claire[/name] or use the full name [name]Katherine[/name] as there are a lot of [name]Kate[/name]/Katies/Katelynns/Kaylees/et al.

[name]Ella[/name] is beautiful but I agree, she will probably meet many other [name]Ella[/name]'s in her lifetime. Also, if you have a friend who just named their daughter [name]Ella[/name], I wouldn’t use it.
I do love [name]Kate[/name] though. I think it’s classic and it will age well. It’s simple but elegant. You could also spell it [name]Cate[/name].
I also like [name]Claire[/name], I think the name is adorable.
What about these?
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Isabella[/name]- You could call her [name]Bella[/name]! That’s somewhat close to [name]Ella[/name], but still awfully popular.
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Zoey[/name]
Best of luck to you and congratulations!

[name]Ella[/name] is a pretty name but I agree, it’s very popular and your daughter is likely to be one of many Ellas if you go that route. [name]Claire[/name] is just kind of bland to me- I just find it doesn’t have all that much personality. I absolutely love both [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]. I think that they’re both really classic, timeless and sophisticated, but can work on every age. I think that maybe it would be better to use [name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name], only because [name]Katherine[/name] is a little more versatile than [name]Kate[/name] is.

[name]Claire[/name] or [name]Katherine[/name] nn. [name]Kate[/name].

If you’re worried about popularity, [name]Ella[/name] is super popular. I think it’s more popular than the top 10 because it is so often a nn (and the top 10 can’t account for that). I’ve known 7 baby girls born in the last 2 yrs – 5 of 7 are named or nn [name]Ella[/name]. And now my cousin is due w/ a girl and are thinking [name]Ella[/name] of course. [name]One[/name] of the [name]Ella[/name] mom’s, a coworker, recently complained of it’s popularity. She said she constantly hears it on the playground. She had no idea it was popular.

I love [name]Claire[/name] & [name]Katherine[/name]. I’m a little bias since I’m a [name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name] but as I got older, I’m 32, I realized what a wise choice it was by my parents. And [name]Claire[/name] has always been a favorite! It’s so feminine!

Thanks all! I’ve been liking the name [name]Katherine[/name] since I was little, and seems like now this name is not as popular as before in baby’s group it’s a good time to use it.

My first name is [name]Katherine[/name], and as crazy as it sounds I have never met anyone around my own age(18) who called herself [name]Katherine[/name]. I have met Katies and Kates and Kats, but never a [name]Katherine[/name]. It’s a beautiful and versatile name! And it’s nowhere near as popular as [name]Ella[/name] or even [name]Claire[/name] when you account for the fact that most Katherines go by nicknames

I love the name [name]Claire[/name]!

What about [name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Elle[/name]? That way if there are too many Ellas, she can become [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Nora[/name].

You can do the same thing with:
[name]Elena[/name]
[name]Elora[/name]
[name]Eleni[/name]
[name]Ellery[/name]
[name]Eleanora[/name]
[name]Eliana[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name]
Elowen (my favorite!)
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Elsa[/name]
[name]Elspeth[/name]
[name]Elysia[/name]

[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Ella[/name]!
