Our son is [name_u]Noah[/name_u] which is very popular (we had no idea at the time how popular it would become). I’m not against popular names as they are popular for a reason - they are nice - but I’d like to have so something less so. We need a name to match but nothing too unusual and nor do we want something overly popular. I know [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is gaining in popularity but as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for a first name and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as nn do you think it’s a good combo? Or we could spell [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] as in [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]/lord of the rings?
I love both [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. If you are going to call her [name_f]Ella[/name_f], then name her [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is perfect with [name_u]Noah[/name_u]!
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] “[name_f]Ella[/name_f]” is a lovely choice and goes very well with [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. The advantage of going with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is that it gives her more options if she wants to go by a more unusual name.
I would not spell it [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]; while it is an acceptable spelling, it’s much more unusual — especially next to [name_u]Noah[/name_u] — and would often get misspelt.
I think [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ella[/name_f] both work.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Elia[/name_u]? ([name_f]ELL[/name_f]-ee-ah) I think it’s so pretty. And though much less popular than [name_u]Noah[/name_u], the 4 letter connection helps.
I don’t think you have to stay super close in popularity as long as the names sound good together. Some other ideas: [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u]/[name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]…
Thanks for your feedback. We did like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] but it’s very popular in [name_f]England[/name_f] at the min, I think it maybe the mn. I love [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] but hubby does not. I do like the idea of giving her the choice of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] when she’s a little older if [name_f]Ella[/name_f] becomes as popular as I think it will…nn for [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and then a name in its own right.
