Ella & Isabel - Too Similar?

I am trying to create a list of sibling names. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] are both at the top of my list, but I’m worried that they sound too similar. I don’t know why but I think I like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] much better than [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f].

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f]? Or do neither of them work with [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]?

Maybe instead of [name_f]Ella[/name_f] you could do a fuller version and use [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a NN.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elody[/name_f]

I love the style but I do think it is too close. What about

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/ [name_f]Ella[/name_f] &
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Michaela[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] & [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] works much better than [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. I think it’s because it takes the stress off the common “el” that is heavily present in both names.

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] are definitely too close–so close that you could quite easily use [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] work much better together.

[name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother was actually named [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and called [name_f]Ella[/name_f] her whole life. I actually thought her real name was [name_f]Ella[/name_f] for most of my life.

I love them both and am having fun working out how I can honour her in a future girls name. Currently I’m thinking [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bella[/name_f].

I do think [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] are a little close for siblings. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are wonderful names though! I like pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] as sisters. I love this name and would use it in a heartbeat if it were not for some difficult associations.

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/ [name_f]Elena[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Issy[/name_u] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f])

I really like that.

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] are too close together. [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] are perfect.

The reason geeknamezyo mentioned is exactly why [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] are too close.

I love [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f], both are on my list ([name_f]Isabel[/name_f] [name_f]Poet[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Maple[/name_f]). I think they would make a beautiful, fabulous sister set. Yes, they both have similarities but not so close that they cannot be used for sisters. I have heard people stating that even names starting or ending in the same letter are too close for siblings. If you asked about [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and Rosabel, that would be different.
