I like the sound of [name_f]Eila[/name_f] better, and that it isn’t as common. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is pretty but it does kind of seem like a nickname since there are many popular names these days that use the [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f] sounds (e.g [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], [name_f]Brielle[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f])
I adore [name_f]Ella[/name_f], it’s on my short list. It’s also an honor name.
I love [name_f]Eila[/name_f], personally I find it fresher and more quirky than [name_f]Ella[/name_f].
However, I didn’t know how to pronounce it until you said it was like [name_f]Isla[/name_f]…I’m from the uk
If it’s between [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Eila[/name_f], I pick [name_f]Ella[/name_f] because [name_f]Eila[/name_f] looks visually confusing to me. I thought at first it said “[name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f]?” and was a mistake. If it’s between [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f], I’d go for [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
I was also confused with the pronunciation of [name_f]Eila[/name_f] and initially thought it was [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. I’d choose [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
[name_f]Eila[/name_f] for me.
I like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] better, because [name_f]Eila[/name_f] is hard to pronounce. I figured it was like [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but I think she’ll struggle her whole life with people mispronouncing her name if you go with [name_f]Eila[/name_f].
I agree with some pps that I like the spelling [name_f]Isla[/name_f] over [name_f]Eila[/name_f], but I would pick either over [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. To me, [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is a little too ella-phant-y I get the appeal though, and both are nice choices. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is more classic, [name_f]Eila[/name_f] is fresher, both are short and spunky. Either way would be nice.
I had no difficulty with the pronunciation of [name_f]Eila[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Eila[/name_f] is more fresh and interesting, so my vote definitely goes to [name_f]Eila[/name_f]. However, it’s possible that people will mistakenly think it’s [name_f]Ella[/name_f] when written sometimes.
The classic, lovely [name_f]Ella[/name_f].
I chose [name_f]Ella[/name_f] because when I first saw [name_f]Eila[/name_f] I thought it was [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. I think it would be a little too confusing to use, but I love the pronunciation.
Between [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Eila[/name_f], I’d pick [name_f]Ella[/name_f], hands down. Both sound lovely, but the spelling of [name_f]Eila[/name_f] annoys me. It looks slightly off, and I think it would cause masses of spelling confusion in day to day life, as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is becoming very popular, (especially here in [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]).
In fact, I had this issue the other day, between Aila and [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. It just seems unnecessary.
Out of [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f], I’d go for [name_f]Isla[/name_f], I think.
Thank you everyone!
