Ellery

What do you think of [name]Ellery[/name]? Does it make you think of celery? [name]How[/name] does it sound with big sister [name]Avery[/name]? Too close?

Thank you all for your opinions!

I really like [name]Ellery[/name], but I think it is too close to the sound of [name]Avery[/name]. What about [name]Ellis[/name]?

Wonderful! Those two names are on my favorite names for girls list. In fact, I was considering [name]Avery[/name], [name]Adair[/name], [name]Channing[/name], or [name]Ellery[/name] had my son been a girl.

Does [name]Ellery[/name] sound too close to [name]Avery[/name]? I personally think it depends on how you pronounce [name]Avery[/name]. If you pronounce it with 3 syllables ([name]AVE[/name] uh ree) I think it does sound a little close to [name]Ellery[/name]. But, if it is just [name]AVE[/name] ree, then I think it’s okay. The ending sounds are identical, HOWEVER my philosophy is… if you love a name that much, don’t waste it. You may never get a chance to use it again.
So what if it sounds a little close, it is better than two brothers I know named [name]Michael[/name] & [name]Mychael[/name]. NOW THAT’S CLOSE!

If you are worried about the fact that [name]Ellery[/name] rhymes with celery you could opt for the Welsh name [name]Eleri[/name]. [name]Eleri[/name]'s pronunciation is different. It rhymes with “[name]Mary[/name].” (uh LAIR ee)

[name]Happy[/name] naming!

I think [name]Ellery[/name] looks very pretty, and has the cute nickname [name]Ellie[/name]. However i have a hard time getting past Celery. Cause if i try really hard when i think about it i dont think about celery but it always reverts back [name]Ellery[/name] Loves Celery.

And yes i think [name]Ellery[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] are to close. They look very similar and sound very similar. And i think that when it is said allowed with [name]Avery[/name] they would probably run together.

What about using [name]Ellery[/name] as a middle name?

Good [name]Luck[/name]!

[name]Ellery[/name] is way to close to [name]Avery[/name] imo. And yes it reminds me of celery

I think they are too close.

I think [name]Ellery[/name] is very pretty, but it does feel somewhat similar to [name]Avery[/name]. However, it’s not as if they rhyme, and like the above poster said, if you truly love it you may regret not using it. The celery thing doesn’t bother me personally. I like the suggestion of [name]Ellis[/name].

I laughed when I read your post because the first thing I thought of when I had read only the title was “celery”!!! Cute idea but I definitely associate the name with the vegetable. Sorry!

I really like the idea of the name though. What about [name]Ellie[/name]? I think [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name] sound really cute. I don’t think they sound too similar either. Another similar sounding name …[name]Mallory[/name]? Or [name]Mallery[/name]?

I really like [name]Ellery[/name]! I didn’t think of “celery” until someone pointed it out! Besides, there are worse things to be associated with… However, it’s a bit too close with big sister [name]Avery[/name], in my opinion… What about [name]Romilly[/name]?

Good luck!

I love it, and don’t think it’s too similar to the name [name]Avery[/name]. I think the name [name]Emery[/name] could work as a substitute, if you can live with the idea that your daughters would have the same names as two of [name]Angie[/name] [name]Harmon[/name]'s three kids.

Thank you all!

I like the look of [name]Ellery[/name], and love the nn [name]Ellie[/name], but I am not sure of the sound of the name, and I do think it is a bit close to [name]Avery[/name]. We do pronounce [name]Avery[/name] as two-syllables. I love [name]Ellis[/name] and it is on our short list. I like [name]Quinn[/name] as well.
