Elliot Blake

Elliot Blake? Way too masculine for a girl or totally strong and wearable (thanks Blake Lively)? Big brother is Harrison Jay.

I’ve thought of a million other “girly” middle names and for some reason, Blake just seems to be it for me. Also thoughts on the alternative Blayke spelling? I’ve never really been in the camp of spelling making a name more gendered, but I’m curious about your opinions…

We aren’t finding out gender and baby will be Elliot Archer if it’s a boy.

I like it. Not too masculine really. Plus she can go by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and that’s feminine enough. I prefer [name_u]Blake[/name_u] to [name_f]Blayke[/name_f] for sure.

I do think it’s way too masculine, since they’re paired together. Sorry! I think either of them needs a clearly feminine name to pair with. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is completely masculine to me and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is leaning masculine, so hearing this wouldn’t make me expect a female.

I would assume an [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] to be a boy if I heard the name, but wouldn’t be completely surprised if I were to discover it was a girl. I’m also not a fan of changing the spelling to make [name_u]Blake[/name_u] more gendered, even though [name_f]Blayke[/name_f] would make the combo feel more feminine. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] doesn’t lean strongly either way when it comes to gender for me and I think [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is cute, even though she may have to face some confused people.

I think if I just heard it, I would assume masculine, but that doesn’t necessarily make it too masculine!

It’s fun, strong, and totally wearable on a girl. I’ve known a couple girl Elliots, and none of them had any qualms with their names. Additionally, since the middle name won’t be used very often, I don’t think the two unisex-leaning-masculine names in a row would be an issue for her in her everyday life.

Overall, a really fantastic combo, and one that I would love to see on a girl.

I feel you could tone down the masculine aspect by using an alternate spelling. [name_f]Elliette[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_f]Elliotte[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] are the exact same name but with a more feminine obvious touch.

I immediately assumed it was for a boy, but I do like it. Elliette/Elliotte might make it more feminine? I love [name_u]Blake[/name_u] on a girl! (Elliot [name_u]Archer[/name_u] is so lovely!)

I’ll probably be the odd one out as I like girly names but I honestly think it’s too masculine.

They’re both traditionally boy’s names plus it’s fits so well stylistically with your son’s name, it would make me assume boy even more seeing the two names together.

That being said, I’d say stick with [name_u]Blake[/name_u] over the [name_f]Blayke[/name_f] spelling if it’s the name you love and want to use.

[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is solidly unisex to me - it’s perfectly suitable for either gender! I love it!

[name_m]Way[/name_m] too masculine for a girl imo (coming from someone who loves boy names on girls). I love it for a boy tho!

Thank you! It’s really stuck with me and I’m glad someone else likes it!

[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] on a little girl would be sooo adorable!! i would assume it’s a boy by just the name but i certainly do not think its unusable!

[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is too masculine for me. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] perhaps?

I think boy when I hear [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. I think both [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] can be unisex separately, and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is more unisex to me than [name_u]Blake[/name_u], but the combo is solidly masculine. If you don’t want to her to be mistaken for a boy, then I think you need either a clearly feminine spelling of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] or a more traditionally feminine middle. Sorry. :frowning:

Also, please not [name_f]Blayke[/name_f]. If you’re going to change a spelling, I would do [name_f]Elliette[/name_f] or [name_f]Elliotte[/name_f]. But if you think you’d call her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a nn anyway, then I think I would just name her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u].

I don’t think we will call her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] often. I’m set on [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for sure and definitely get where you’re coming from. The e on the end of [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] feels clunky for me. So if we end up changing something it would be a more feminine middle. I have a long list of feminine contenders but I’m just not sure I’m swayed from [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. Thank you for your input!

And I should have said, for the record, I like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]! I just think she’ll get mistaken for a boy fairly often, although there are worse things in life, let’s be honest. If you love, then it’s the right name!

I think if you’re happy for it to be very unisex, I’d say go for it. It does a nice flow

If you like [name_u]Blake[/name_u] so much then just keep [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. No need to go the extra mile by adding anything else to it. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is nice. (Ironically enough, I know twins with the middle name [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and Blake!)
