It’s a boy! We found out a couple weeks ago and now we are getting very serious about naming him!
We have a little girl named [name]Elin[/name]. Trouble is the name we love, [name]Elliot[/name], just sounds a little too similar to [name]Elin[/name].
Would you agree?
We weren’t looking for matchy match names, we just happen to love both of these names!
Plus, if we ever have a third, I would definitely not pick an E name.
Our other name is [name]Atticus[/name]. We love it as well, however find minor problems with this name.
For instance, telling my daughter 8 times a day, “[name]Don[/name]'t touch that, it’s [name]Atticus[/name]'s.” Not easy.
In addition, no way to shorten it.
We could really use any and all feedback on this!
Open to other names with same feel.
But feel like I’ve been researching names for years now and have thrown out everything else! Help.
[name]Evan[/name]? is that too close to [name]Elin[/name]… I just think they are so cute together… of course, I have an [name]Evan[/name] so I am partial, I know:-) I agree about [name]Atticus[/name]. don’t really care for that name - all I think is [name]Atticus[/name] [name]Finch[/name]… I do think [name]Elliot[/name] is too close, but not [name]Evan[/name]…
also like
[name]Elin[/name] and [name]Everett[/name]
[name]Elin[/name] and [name]Callum[/name]
[name]Elin[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name]/[name]Luca[/name]
[name]Elin[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name]
I do love [name]Elliot[/name] but I agree it is fairly close to [name]Elin[/name](love that name, by the way) [name]Atticus[/name] is a great name but I see the same problems you do.
What about
[name]Elias[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Silas[/name]
[name]Evan[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Hope[/name] I helped! Best of luck to you!!
I prefer [name]Atticus[/name] both individually and as a brother to [name]Elin[/name]. There have been several threads over the last few months about nicknames for [name]Atticus[/name]. You can do:
[name]Atti[/name]
[name]Ace[/name]
Custer
[name]Tuck[/name] (saw this on another forum as someones son [name]Atticus[/name] nickname)
[name]Kit[/name] – a stretch but saw this on another forum too
Atto
[name]Gus[/name] – seen this suggested on here often
Tyke
Or if his middle name is, say, [name]John[/name], [name]Atticus[/name] [name]John[/name] could be call AJ.
[name]Elliot[/name] does seem way to matchy with [name]Elin[/name] to me, so I would go with [name]Atticus[/name]. It’s a strong and very cool name.
I think any E name, [name]Evan[/name], [name]Elias[/name], all sound a little too close to [name]Elin[/name].
I like the feel of [name]Silas[/name], though know a few too many with this name.
We like less common, strong names.
[name]Oliver[/name] we love, yet it would not work with last name.
Maybe [name]Atticus[/name] doesn’t need a shortened version, though it would be nice.
Arghh…Feeling the pressure.
Wishing babies were born with name tags.
Thanks! Open to any more ideas.
This is really helping though. My husband can’t handle any more name talk!!
Those are two of my absolute favorite boy’s names, but I’d have to go with [name]Atticus[/name] as a little bro to [name]Elin[/name]. [name]Elin[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name] are too matchy to sound good together, [name]IMO[/name].
I like both names but I prefer [name]Atticus[/name] much more! My son’s name is [name]Atticus[/name] and we call him baby [name]Atti[/name]!
I guess “[name]Don[/name]'t touch [name]Atti[/name]'s things” roles off the tongue better but I haven’t found it to be a problem saying “[name]Atticus[/name]'s”
I think [name]Atticus[/name] & [name]Elin[/name] make an adorable sibset! Best of luck to you!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
We are getting more comfortable with [name]Atticus[/name] after all the comments.
Knowing little girls with the name [name]Addison[/name], that go by [name]Addi[/name], it’s hard to picture that on my son, but we’ll see.
Still have 15 more weeks to go (as I just got a big kick!)
Still open to any and all comments! Thanks so so much.
I’d go with [name]Atticus[/name] too. There are a few nn’s other berries have considered for this including [name]Gus[/name] which I don’t thing has been mentioned yet. What were your thoughts on mns? Could a initials nn work? For example: AJ or AC?
I think of [name]Addison[/name] as a unisex name so the nickname of [name]Addi[/name]/[name]Atti[/name] seems natural to me. I think it’s really cute and I hope it grows on you!
Still thinking on middle names.
I know it doesn’t roll off the tongue, but how about [name]Atticus[/name] [name]Elliot[/name]?
Open to any ideas on middles, as our family name just wouldn’t work, [name]Arthur[/name]…
With [name]Elliot[/name] as mn he would have similar, yet different initials to my daughter who is [name]Elin[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]. AE and EA.
Last name starts w/ B and is one syllable.
THANKS!
I do think [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Elin[/name] are very similar in looks. We have a son named [name]Linus[/name] and [name]Linus[/name]'s I will admit is a bit of a tongue twister however we love pretty much everything else about his name, so do not let that deter you!
