Elliot or Edison?

We are expecting a boy in a few weeks. His siblings have “vowel” names as they sound right with our surname. We are leaning toward an “E” name. Which do you prefer - [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] or [name_m]Edison[/name_m]? Or do they both sound too preppy? Our other children have quite soft sounding names. Also, does anyone know any [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]'s? Does their name get shortened? What nicknames do they get?

I prefer [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. [name_m]Edison[/name_m] reminds me of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Edison[/name_m], and he stole most of his inventions.

In my country, [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is more common so I know many, but I’ve never heard them be nicknamed other than the occasional [name_f]El[/name_f].

I like [name_m]Edison[/name_m].
I know two Elliots. One of them is called [name_m]Lio[/name_m] and one just goes by [name_u]Elliot[/name_u].

If your other children’s names are softer, I think I prefer [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. I know two [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]'s and both go by there full names. [name_m]Eli[/name_m] might be a good nickname though.

I do like [name_m]Edison[/name_m] a lot but it is a strong name, Also I am not sure I like the nickname [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] which seems pretty inevitable.

I really like [name_m]Edison[/name_m]. It’s super spunky, yet it feels quite classic and strong too.

I love [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. I’ve never heard it shortened but I like the [name_m]Lio[/name_m] idea. ^

I like [name_m]Edison[/name_m].

There are a surge of Elliots right now, and I tend to avoid names that have sudden popularity spikes. I think it lacks originality, and your child will be in preschool with 3 other Elliots.

[name_m]Edison[/name_m], on the other hand, has an astute tone to it that is very attractive. Also, my son’s name is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], so I am partial to president’s names!

I prefer [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. I never liked [name_m]Edison[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] & [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] much better.
