I’ve been liking the name [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for a long time. So I’m curious on what are y’all’s opinion on [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]? Is it better spelt like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] or [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? It says on here that it is a unisex name, but to me, I think it’s an all boy name. What kind of image do you get from the name [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]? I like the possibility of using [name_m]Eli[/name_m] as a nickname. Anyway, what are y’all’s thoughts on [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]?
I believe it its a [name_m]French[/name_m] surname derived from [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] which means Jehovah is God! The best spelling as far as my preferences go is [name_u]Eliot[/name_u], [name_m]Eli[/name_m] is the acceptable nn. There was a show years ago called scrubs that ran for about 9 seasons with the female main character being called [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] because her father wanted a boy… Plus it starts with [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]…and can end in tt. So I think its started to lend some appeal to parents with baby girls thinking that it would be a fun and different alternative [name_f]Elle[/name_f] name and not as cute or feminine as [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] or [name_f]Collette[/name_f] because no e ? On the end… And the sweet [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] nn. But… Traditionally and until very recently its been a sn or make given name. I believe the majority of children named [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] are boys Espescially with that spelling. We [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it! If you love it I would seriously consider it for a son.
It’s one of my favourite boy names for sure. I do also like it for a girl. Probably for the reason explained above, it does feel feminine with the [name_f]El[/name_f]-beginning and the TT ending.
I like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] best for a boy.
However, there are too many Ellies in my part of the world right now. I never thought I’d say that, but it’s true. I know you’re looking to use [name_m]Eli[/name_m], which is a beautiful nn, but I’d use caution choosing any [name_f]El[/name_f]- names. Maybe that isn’t the case where you are, but all I hear about is [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Ellia[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], Elizabeths, [name_f]Elise[/name_f], Ellyette, [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] where I am these days, blending in with the [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], Lyras. Take what I say with a grain of salt though, as I’m in Vancouver, BC. It might not apply to you.
I love the name and used it for my youngest son. We went with “[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]” as the spelling because it is the most common spelling when used as a first name and we use the nickname [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. “[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]” with 2Ts is more common as a last name.
Great name. I prefer it with 2 L’s and 1 T. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is fine too, just seems a bit crowded to me. And [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] feels a bit lacking. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is just right.
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is one of my all-time favorite boy names! I absolutely adore it. I think it ages really well, it sounds nice, and it’s just adorable! I prefer the spelling [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], but I think [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is just as nice! I love the T.S. [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] reference with [name_u]Eliot[/name_u], but it just seems unfinished to me. So I like both [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. But when/if I use it, I’ll use 2 Ls and 2 Ts.
I think [name_m]Eli[/name_m] would definitely work as a nickname if that’s what you want!
It’s one of my favs! I like one T, but my husband thinks it looks incomplete.
Same here, love the name [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for a boy, but too many [name_f]Elle[/name_f] names around here and it all gets blended when they are running around the playground.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for a boy and hate seeing it used for girls!
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is my preferred spelling which is funny since I originally liked it spelled [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. I prefer it without a nickname but the nickname [name_m]Eli[/name_m] is nice if you decide to use a nickname.
[name_f]My[/name_f] son is [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] his name. I have been stopped by random strangers who have heard me talking to him and tell me what a great name it is. We are having another boy in a few weeks and I feel bad because there are no other boy names I love as much as [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. We had planned on calling my son the nn of [name_m]Eli[/name_m], but it just doesn’t fit him. And there are a ton of [name_m]Eli[/name_m]'s around here who are all pretty obnoxious. So we just call him [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] or E.
I personally adore this name, I like it spelt [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] but [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is fine too. I think it’s a strong male name whilst still being quite soft sounding.
